Medical supplies, ammunition, weapons etc were flown by the Americans to help the Russian people in their darkest hour. Today few people remember the Alaska Sky road. America also ran Arctic convoys across the Atlantic to help Russia in her hour of need. I once spoke to a Guy who was on the convoys. Hellishly bad weather, heaving freezing cold seas. After the war the bravery of all these guy's was forgotten, swept under the rug because of the cold war. And let's not forget the fine folks of the Big Apple. They knew how not to say a word about when a convoy sailed or what was loaded on board. Well done New Yorkers, their secrecy saved many sailors lives from U Boat wolf packs waiting outside New York for spies to tell them the convoy had begun their run.
