Bigotry in President's Cabinet (Page 2)

Metaverseguy: Ben Franklin was important for many reasons, not just his relationship with early founders. He was a printer so he had access to information. He was an ambassador to France one of our most important allies at the time. Plus he was very wealthy, shipping things back and forth from England and the States.

I get your analogy of their vast wealth, but actually they were more powerful than people today. A slave was basically your property so you could do whatever you wanted with them, punish them with flogging or even kill them if they disobeyed you enough. Today people complain that billionaires murder political opponents and business competitors. With our corrupt system maybe a billionaire could get away with murdering a couple people, but they'd have to deal with lots of lawyers and maybe sell off a lot of their wealth. They might even have to serve time in one of those luxury country club prisons. Back then they could do it freely to their slaves with little hassle from the law.

constitution broken: oh boy, let's start with your uniformed conceptions about slavery and American's relationship with it. First of all slavery has been around since before Biblical times (if you believe in that stuff), and is still around today in many forms both here in America and around the world. And yes, some masters did abuse and even kill their slaves, but that was not a common practice, since slaves were valuable property like horses and cows. And yes, some people then and now abuse and kill their "livestock" it is not a common practice then or now. It's just plain bad business. Believe me when I say rich people don't get or stay rich by making bad decisions.

Also it might interest you to know that slavery was big business in the American colonies and our young Republic for more years than we would like to think..For more information on that you can research America's involvement in The Slave Triangle. When our government outlawed the importation of slaves, but not owning them; it was an instant economic boon to Virginia and one or two other southern states, as they went into the slave breeding business. There was a period in history where slaves rivaled tobacco as the main product of Virginia (George Washington's home state). That's all the time I care to spare explaining slavery to you, if you still don't understand it, do a little of your own research, before you go rambling on in a Forum on a subject you obviously know little about.

As far as your thought's on someone just murdering someone else and getting away with it or not is concerned, yes it was allot easier way back then especially if that person was your slave. And now a day's you got a pretty good chance of getting away with murder without all the lawyers being involved because they have to catch you and prove you did it before you can be dealt with. And about murder, rich people who have access to the best lawyers can get away wih murder or about anything else, to prove that all I have to say is "O.J."....

Now about "Ben"...there is a reason he is known as "The First American"...he was one of the last "Rena sons Men" that I know of. His formal education ended at ten years old. When he was twelve his father apprenticed him to his older brother who was a printer. He worked there for three years even though his brother constantly abused and beat him. He ran away from Boston and his bother when he was fifteen Leaving behind two years left on a contract of servitude to his brother for the apprenticeship. First he made his way to New York and then finally to Philadelphia where he made his home and went back to printing. To make a long story short over the next couple of decades he created the largest printing and publishing company in the colonies. He was becoming richer and richer off that especially when he created and published Poor Richards Almanac which was published for over twenty five years and made him even more money. He also made quite a bit of money from his invention of the Franklin Stove, bifocal glasses, the first flexible catheter and for what it's worth the American Penny. The there was his involvement with the American Revolution and the founding of our nation. What I'm trying to say is that by no means was Ben poor, but he was nowhere as rich as Washington or Jefferson who were not only slave owners, but breeder's for profit.

Look let's face it America's a seas pool. It was in the beginning, as it was throughout the last two hundred odd years of it's existence, and as it is now. And in my opinion Mr Trump is not that much different from President Washington. Or for that matter many of our other President's. He's just more obvious and offensive about his immoral actions. Remember rich people don't actually have to break the law, they can pay other people to do it for them....drm.

Metaverseguy: constitution broken, you didn't really give any questions to respond. I read your reply, but it was all just stating facts. Anyways, I'm actually surprised that there wasn't a gov't shutdown recently. It doesn't really surprise me that the "pre-existing conditions" are being removed from the healthcare update, although I didn't vote for him. People that voted for him should be outraged, especially if their premiums go up.

Can anyone name some huge things he did for 100 days? Most people aren't giving him credit. Actually immigration to this country has gone way down, which may be a good thing or bad thing depending on how you look at it. Other than that I can't think of anything other than saving a few thousand jobs.

constitution broken: The fact that you have no response to the point my facts made is a clear enough statement to me...as far as Trump is concerned...did you really think the Republicans would let the government shut-down on their watch especially with Trump newly elected...the Democrats need to keep a gun to the Republicans heads over the budget and healthcare...give us want we want our hang yourselves...as far as Trumps accomplishments are concerned they are so minuscule it is ridiculous...he's scared a few immigrants into not entering the country, he's forced a couple of companies to bring a few thousand jobs back to American and oh yes, he appointed a nightmare of a person to the Supreme Court...ignore his first one hundred days the nest one hundred is when the shit starts hitting the fan...drm.

Metaverseguy: Actually, funny I was just looking up last time Republicans had so much control (executive branch, legislative branch (congress majority house and senate, and judicial branch (5 republicans vs 4 democrats). Last time was 1928. People associate this with cause of Great Depression, but there's no correlation.

Although, nowadays people of many different ethnic backgrounds claim to be Republican, which is typically the party reserved for certain stereotypes. actually many political backgrounds are a mixture of beliefs. sometimes they don't follow all their core party beliefs but typically abortion no, death penalty yes, prefer smaller gov't, support less social welfare, more pro-war, and typically sides with religion.

Politics is politics though. Isn't it more about money? at least in dc? People have been complaining that previous president is now accepting huge payouts for speeches, which misaligns with his party that is against corruption in wall st.

constitution broken: Just to be up-front, I guess I would be considered a radical progressive activist, and you some sorta liberal whiner which is probably not registered to vote, or doesn't bother with voting...that's if I were into labeling...but I'm more into uniting the American people...one person at a time if I have to...that being said, yes what I consider to be the worst political party possible is in complete control of our already corrupt government,,,can we agree on that, or are you a Republican? NOW, let's talk about what we can do about it...interested? Please, go read The Bill of Rights, Amendment 1, "last phrase"...what I call the "Golden Provision" or the people's 21st century "nuclear option"...either way...it has never been tried or tested, and it will allow us, the people an unprecedented ability to directly affect the federal government with only the restrictions we allow to be placed upon ourselves...read the phrase a couple of times, sit back, close your eyes and imagine the powers those few words give the people...there is a reason it is the last phrase of The First Amendment...nothing is by accident or coincidence...karma is cosmic..and is not restricted to the limitations of time...past, present or future... but we are, we only have the now and that means we have to take action now...drm.

constitution broken: First, I'm not quite balding, I'm still in the graying stage. but with my hereditary I will probably die bald. Not much I can do about that, but I'm not a geezer from the 20's. I'm an angry old man from the 50's, and just so you're aware, I earned the right to be angry about what has happened to our country in the last forty years, even with my best efforts. I was lead to foolishly believe that if you voted as is your responsibly as a citizen, part of the social contract and all that, and did what "Good Americans" do...that our country would take care of us. Now I will be 65yo this month and all I see was that I was sold a lie by two greedy political parties and a corrupt government. At 65 years of age, it's not that big a deal to me, I'll be dead soon enough, but I have children and grandchildren for whom I see a possible future of living as slaves under a Fascist Trump Dictatorship. I FEAR FOR THEM...so join the fight or get out of my way...by the way I'm glad I was wrong about you being registered to vote, but do you vote?...drm.

Metaverseguy: Yes I usually vote for major elections and sometimes even the smaller ones that deal with local issues and occasionally go to city council meetings which are the most boring conversations you'll ever hear, and I even briefly served in the DOD. yes, I did some small service but fortunately my generation didn't have to face a crisis as bad as Vietnam or WW2. People they think that will happen at any minute, but more than likely robots will be fighting the next war which is the stupidest thing ever. We are going to be watching those nerd engineers from robot wars wage destruction on the world? whatever as long as it saves lives so people don't have to continue to put themselves in danger.

constitution broken: At this time; all you can think about is future wars fought by robots...get you damn head out of the video games for a minute...we are currently in a cyberwar with Russia, other forgiegn powers, nationless hackers, and our own government; I really feel this should be a little more worrisome to you. Not to mention that our own government is creating pathogens at The Center for Disease Control under the excuses they are creating them so they cann create cures for possible threats. If just one of those viruses/diseases gets lose like all those little viruses of the NSA that were supoed to be safe and are now wrecking havoc all over the world. What happens if just one of those pathogens gets loose and causes a world pandemic...do,you think the American Government will make the cure available to the rest of the world, if you thnk so, answer me this. why didn't the NSA release the viruses protections to the world once they knew their viruses had been compromised...istead they let hospitals, airports, and other major facilities be compromised, rather than expose themselves for wha
t the are. Finally, knowing you USUALLY VOTE IN MAJOR ELECTIONS does not gvie me a real feeling for you sense of sicial responsibility...drm.

Metaverseguy: So I got out of this reply that you think the gov't is using micobiological diseases in warfare. I doubt that is the case because there are treaties that prevent using chemical weapons, and this would be a similar scenario. I know it sounds stupid adding rules to warfare, but I think these rules like the ones about forbidding the use of nuclear weapons they actually follow. Ok, the USA goes to war without the consent of Congress and without the consent of the UN, but they do follow some rules, and if they did do this every reputable news source would be reporting it. I'm sure there are some whacky news sources that publish this fake news already, along with the moon landing never happened and that extraterrestrials are already living amongst us. I read that smallpox has been eradicated from the face of the Earth, but there is a copy of the virus being stored somewhere. Why not destroy the last copy and be done with it? Is it for vaccination purposes maybe.

constitution broken: Hey Piano, I am not surprised that you are unaware that US Government switched it's research on chemical and pathogenic agents to the CDC when they signed all those anti-chemical & germ warfare treaties, and closed all their known research facilities. As to why their keeping that sample of the smallpox virus instead of destroying it is...Oh, I already answered that question...didn't I...drm.
