Marijuna vs. Alcohol happywesty: Everyone has their own opinion of the legalization of both. The news that Trump was freezing the hiring of "all Federal jobs" was a bit of a surprise. Typical draconian, knee-jerk measures you would expect from a dictator in Cuba. So here is my take: both alcohol and marijuana are addictive, with alcohol by FAR being the most addictive and most destructive.Yet, since Prohibition, its been legal. So what is the huge issue with Marijuana. Ok - I knew "pot heads" when I was in school. The heavy users had slurred speech when they smoked pot. Similar to alcohol users when under the influence. Might not affect all people but it did my friends. Long term effects ... not that I know of ... just know that they should not be out driving if using it. Alcohol has a huge problem. Its addictive, destructive to the body and I for one am fed up for paying the same premium for health insurance that someone that has a corroded liver. Family I grew up with drank heavily. My brothers drank heavily. My sis and I were the only two the didnt drink. Brothers smoked pot. For my two cents: its about as idiotic to deny a pot smoker the recreational use of pot IF you are also going to keep on repealing Prohibition. Trump is freezing the Federal budget towards hiring most new jobs for now... ok ... so how is he going to 1. Build a Wall that will never be finished and end up as a dinosaur? and 2. Pay for the additional hours it will take to crack down on pot growers who are making its in very small quantities? And please ... dont come at me with that "Pot leads to Cocaine, leads to Meth etc. I know that ... but not all pot smokers have used those drugs. But I know a lot of people that are hooked on alcohol... you can buy it at most markets in the US, state run or priv. owned liquor stores. Please try and tell me that pot has killed on the average 42k people in "pot drunken driver" cases like beer, booze and so on has. I abstain from pot and alcohol ... I feel that any pain killing drug should be avoided as much as possible. How can you expect to add in more law enforcement for recreational pot growers if you are freezing the hiring of new employees and that would also have to do with overtime needed to enforce the Feds stepping in over the state... Dont you think that the Fed has enough problems as it is? Its the old States rights thing all over again. I would think if anything the money spent on the law enforcement would be better spent on say a Veterans job program. Maybe in 1950 but in modern times 'People on the street' are rarely there due to alcoholism, it's a whole heap of issues. If there's a substance abuse situation then it's usually basuco or meth. Depends on where you live. In the end people who overuse a substance should handle their own issue. Prohibition has shown to be a failure. There are programmes etc for alcoholics however most adults are moderate/recreational users and able to handle their shit. Your inability to handle your shit is on you. If you can't handle a drink then don't take it. Same for pot, coffee, cocaine... As I said, you want pot legalised then make a case, no need to bash alcohol. Pot smokers could've had their way long time if they were coherent and smart enough to form the proper case. All you have to do is speak on the legal backlog and of relevant issues but no, Al you can present is "duude alcohol baad pot good" Quick question, what accounts for your stupidity, brian? S W l N E: You know that cocaine is already on discussion/debate to be decriminalised? In some places it's already made headway for recreational use. All that while pot smokers in major countries are still peddling their case.
