Cuba (Page 2)

SWlNE:
Man, I don't know who the future will be given to but I tell you, countries who have seen hardships are more than likely to be adaptable. The US has not faced a strong measure of hardship, save perhaps a glimpse of it in the Great Depression decades upon decades ago. Cuba was formed from hardships and sacrifices. Russia was formed from hardships and sacrifices. These are countries who have had to deal with both outside pressures and inside pressures from their governments. How can you break down a man who have already struggled enough and who knows what hard times are like?

Sheep don't make lions shiver.

chronology: Gronch, Ted Cruz is an American Dream story. His father went to Canada then moved to the U.S. from Canada after fleeing Cuba. He has attended America's top Universities and graduated with honours. His wife Hiedi is from Americas upper class circles, and they are very well to do.

Sanctions have hurt the Cuban people badly, the Americans have been very energic and very aggressive in imposing the sanctions, and they intended them to hurt every Cuban citizen, and they have.

Bill Clinton was the President who imposed the toughest sanctions. Odd really when you remember Bill was hailed as a hero around the world for his success in Peace negotiations in Ireland during the 'troubles' there. It is clear Bill intended to destroy the Cuban Government, not negotiate with it. Very different from his outstanding contribution to Peace in Ireland.

Yes, we are aware of the bullying tactics of the US on Cuba. That's a dose of American reality right there.

Cuba has been through so much and not once came down begging on its knees.

gronchbove: Slaughterin, I know in African, Latin, Eastern and Arab cultures, we want STRONG leaders. Like Stalin, they can face difficulties. They make us feel safe and secure.

Chronology, all the US does is destroy. Clinton and Serbia and Libya. I don't understand this mentality of Americans, that they can destroy countries at a whim or slaughter millions in Hiroshima. It is quite sadistic.

The world does not support the sadism of the US. The US is the bully all around the world.

I can't name one law, the US has followed.

Cruz is proof that the Cubans have defeated the Americans.

Like Stalin? What Gronch, come man, Stalin was a betrayer of his people, look at how many Russians he worked to the ground and killed. Even his own wife he beat and she committed suicide. A man who failed his family, and worse he failed his country.
Amazing that they survived that brutality and still pushed through WW2 to defeat the Nazis. The people did that, not Stalin.

gronchbove: I know, but still he did not "cry when facing difficulties."

Tell me - "How can Cruz's father be faithful to the Cuban revolution when he runs to Canada?"

You are right. The people did that. But the leader must "allow the people to shine."

Lenin, Putin, Fidel ... all tough personalities.

Cruz is American-Canadian to me and even if his father might be biologically Cuban, he has no connection to the Cuban spirit. He's republican and his values reflects where he stands and what he is.

Fidel had a tough personality but he did care for his countrymen and women. When a leader turns on his own people, Gronch and subject them to things that Stalin did, idk tough personality or not, it is as low as it comes. But it is true that leaders must allow the people to shine, but they must also have a measure of strong love for those they are to lead over.

gronchbove: Yes, you are right.

Slaughterin, you understand one of the many Danglo tricks, right?

They take a "man who might have some claim to a group." See Obama and Muslims. Then they claim that this man represents that group. Obama's father might have been partially Muslim [personally I don't think he was, he was more likely pagan pretending to be Muslim].

Then, they take the "traitor" to destroy his people. They used Obama to attack Muslims, right?

Remember the American general used to defeat Germany: Eisenhower, a German-American.

gronchbove: No, I believe "Obama pretended to be Muslim."

Like Hollywood or the Trojan Horse. The Danglos "pretend" to be your friend, like in Libya, then once they get there, they take over.

Same thing with the Cubans fighting the Spanish Empire.

It is like an actor. The West is run by actors. Obama is an actor.

gronchbove: Why was Obama elected?

The elite thought he had some advantage to further their agenda?

Personally, what characteristics did Obama have that were important for leaders?

Charisma?

He has what most politicians in the West lack: Charisma.

He is Black and could reach some groups that the other candidates could not reach.

Obama was used to betray his own community (or what he pretended to be his community).

Of course, Obama is NOT Muslim. But he pretended to be. Hussein is a Muslim name.

gronchbove: My point is that the US thought that certain communities (like in Libya and Cuba) would welcome Obama, while rejecting the other politicians.

gronchbove: I just found this:

"It’s hard to imagine exactly how this many restaurants function on a daily basis.1 Cuba has struggled with food shortages since the fall of the Soviet Union, and grocery shopping can be a multiple destination endeavor, even for those with money. Improved relations with the U.S. are expected to increase the quantity and variety of food available on the island, but food exports weren’t completely shut off by the embargo — the U.S. has been exporting food to Cuba for the better part of 15 years. After nearly 40 years of embargo, the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act (which passed in 2000, with exports beginning at the end of 2001) allowed direct commercial export of food and agricultural products from the U.S. to Cuba."

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/cuba-is-developing-a-taste-for-u-s-whiskey/

I guess in 2001, the United States started selling "some food products" to Cuba. Thus, the Cuban embargo is only "partial." It seems like the US wants to control what can be sent to Cuba.

gronchbove: Windy, threads with life can go off on tangents. I think we can do that with Cuba.

You are a human. You have the right to life and make your own decisions, right?

Syria and Cuba are nations. They have "national sovereignty." What that means is that they have the power, right and authority to control their land space.

You would not want the Canadian government saying you had to take a "smelly, homeless man into your home," right?

Same thing with Syria.

Syria is an independent nation. When Canada bombed Syrians, it committed "murder." It killed innocents of another nation. That is a WAR CRIME.

Vietnam was an absolute disaster and thankfully, Canada said NO to taking part.

1. Canada has its own health care system
2. Canada has its own mortgage market
3. Canada did not join the American revolution
4. Canada just changed its money from paper to polymer
5. Canada just stopped its bombing in Syria and cancelled the F-35 fighter jet (which was made in America).
6. Canada citizens can travel to Cuba, American citizens cannot.
