Obviously your Christian families know that the Westborough Baptist Church doesn't represent all Christians, but yet they believe that one Radical Islamic Terrorist represents all of Islam. Just a Tip: Describe things in a way that is calm, peaceful, & doesn't come off like you're criticizing or correcting their beliefs. You want to say supportive things of their beliefs, but also..introduce bits and pieces of your own as time or the conversation goes on. That way they can absorb it little by little without getting offended all at once. Takes a strong person to do that though & not blow your stack & scream it in the person's face. It's hard! Take the issue for what it really is, you can't aim to distance muslims or make it an 'us' (non-muslims) against a 'them' muslims. It should be an 'us' non-radicals against 'them' religiously radical organisations. Muslims are the main targets of these extremists. That should be blasted against the propaganda spread by ISIL that they're doing good for muslims. Muslims have shown they want to be in the fight against it. They've openly condemned the attacks. They're also currently physically attacking Islamic radicals in the Middle East. The Kurds, Iranians, Iraqis, etc. There's no 'tip-toeing around muslim friends' when supporting that fight and encouraging it. These groups certainly don't differentiate between their targets, once you're not a member or in line with them, you're the same as everyone else. They also have no problem taking recruits who didn't grow up in the muslim religion. There are cases of Christians who fall for the propaganda and converted quick to join the group. I guess that messes up davidk14's belief that only in the pool of muslims can you find 1% of radicals. The only difference between the WBC and ISIL is that ISIL had the opportunity to expand in a conflict area and the finances to continue. I've read enough on the Trump campaign to realise that persons can easily fall for propaganda and emotionally irrational speeches. Given the right environment, that savage side can show itself.
