gronchbove: Slaughterin, DavidK14 proved your point, with actions that most of us grew out of when we were 2 years old.

Keep posting, DavidK14. Every post, you are proving our points.

SWlNE: They say once a man, twice a child. davidk14 is at the second child phase.
You think when you cross the 60 milestone you'll turn into the second child phase, gronch? HAaha. Not me. I'd be a man till I rot.

Thus, we are forced to create "New organizations" because the present ruler - US - is a spoiled brat.

One child-like behaviour was allowed, don't get excited and think it's being tolerated. It is time for you and your buddy davidk14 to learn some manners. Manners maketh man. By the end of this thread, you will learn how to have a discussion on politics without going batshit crazy.

Not related directly to the thread topic but, c'mon who can deny that the changing attitude towards Russia is not due to both their action and their influence in the Syrian conflict:

"France's lower house of parliament voted in favour of lifting European Union sanctions against Russia on Thursday, in a non-binding vote that went against the Socialist government's recommendation.

French deputies voted by 55-44 in favour of the resolution to lift the sanctions slapped on Moscow by the 28-member EU after Russia annexed Crimea and tension escalated with Ukraine."

gronchbove: Yes and No. Of course, 85% of Russia's newfound prestige is due to finding a real answer in Syria. But, the answer was not really that difficult. It is simply that the US was behind the chaos and wanted more problems.

Slaughterin, the other reality is simple:

The US sanctions hurt Europe. It is more of the "divide-and-conquer mentality." Honestly, can you or I even explain why the US leveled sanctions? No.

It was abuse of power.

gronchbove: Slaughterin, I feel like Russia has mostly achieved its goals in Syria. They regained international prestige.

I think their next goal is trying to leverage that for more power.

See Doha. They tried to act as a negotiator for OPEC.

I think now Russia is allowing the Syrian military to slug it out with rebels, offering token air support.

Power in what field?

gronchbove: International politics, Military and Petroleum.

1. Most nations in the world prefer Russia's "non-interventionist, respect for sovereignty approach" How can Russia create a better system then the UN?

Realistically, I think more bilateral agreements may be in the offing. France voted to end sanctions, why not use that as an opening to create a changed French-Russia relationship. The Mistral sale to Egypt was foolish and hopefully France understands that.

2. Military, with control over the Middle East, the petrodollar is dead. Plus, the West continues to put pressure on all Russian borders. Afghanistan asked for military equipment, like helicopters from Russia. Also, Iraq. How can Iraq remain in the Western sphere of influence when it hates the US?

3. Russia has a great relationship with Iran, so-so with Iraq and growing influence with Saudis. The US has failed, can Russia establish security for oil shipments? Imagine an oil pipeline running from China and Siberia down to Syria built by Russian and Chinese workers?
