HerbieVersmells: We have guns to be able to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. This is all that needs to be said about this subject. That is the right I have according to the 2nd amendment of the beautiful Constitution of the United States of MURICA. Crime is relative to many more circumstances than just the ability to wield a gun. (see knife violence stats in the uk) the same argument could be made to ban knives there. Where do you stop the bans. Do we ban fire to stop Arson? Do we ban penises to stop rape? Do we ban hospitals to stop accidental hospital death? All these things can be avoided by Not committing crimes. By Not being negligent. By being a human being that realizes the value of another's Life. I'm sorry if my hobby of punching holes in paper at 1400 fps makes you uncomfortable. I'm sorry if I get a small hit of dopamine every time I hear a steel plate being hit with 870 ft lbs of force. It doesn't change the potential any of us have to commit a crime. We all have exponential potential to commit a crime. Some of us just choose not to.

kittybobo34: There are limits to any attempt to ban guns:
The constitution "right to keep and bear arms SHALL not be infringed"
The fact that there are more guns than people out there already.
But, we can limit the availability to crazy people and stupid criminals.
Remove the availability to buy at gun shows, stepped up investigations of people that attempt to buy but have mental health issues or criminal backgrounds. Right now both of those are being ignored.

How we handle the people we know. Let us all be responsible for the unneeded death and crime we allow to happen. Not because of the availability of a means but because we are the means to an end.
