PRESS RELEASE: Exercise readies SOF for threats abroad

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, March 24, 2015) - Members of U.S. Army Special Operations Command will train with other U.S Armed Forces units July 15 through Sept. 15 in a multi-state exercise called Jade Helm 15.

USASOC periodically conducts training exercises such as these to practice core special warfare tasks, which help protect the nation against foreign enemies. It is imperative that Special Operations Soldiers receive the best training, equipment and resources possible.

While multi-state training exercises such as these are not unique to the military, the size and scope of Jade Helm sets this one apart. To stay ahead of the environmental challenges faced overseas, Jade Helm will take place across seven states. However, Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) will only train in five states: Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The diverse terrain in these states replicates areas Special Operations Soldiers regularly find themselves operating in overseas.

The training exercise will be conducted on private and public land with the permission of the private landowners, and from state and local authorities. In essence, all exercise activity will be taking place on pre-coordinated public and private lands.

The public can expect nothing much different from their day-to-day activities since much of exercise will be conducted in remote areas. The most noticeable effect the exercise may have on the local communities is an increase in vehicle and military air traffic and its associated noise. There will also be economic gain: an increase in the local economy, in fuel and food purchases and hotel lodging.

This exercise is routine training to maintain a high level of readiness for ARSOF since they must be ready to support potential missions anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice.

During this eight-week period, ARSOF soldiers will use this opportunity to further develop tactics, techniques and procedures for emerging concepts in Special Operations warfare.

USASOC intends to conduct the exercise safely and courteously while providing the best possible training available for the nation's Army Special Operations Forces. State and local officials are being informed of the scope of Jade Helm and will continue to be updated as the exercise progresses.

Government is paranoid by nature.

It will think about every possible senario. If the senario is reasonable, they just might do a practice run to train personnel. They have emergency response senario's all the time involving local, state, and federal emergency response teams, in chem, bio and nuke attacks. They practice these all the time.

I believe that the government is practicing for a possible large invasion by terror organizations and practicing deployment of response teams. I see military equipment moving on the highways more now than ever here at the southern border.

Nobody wants a reacurrance of 911. That attack could have been stopped if 'they' could have connected all the dots.

Government is paranoid by nature.

pstyletto: Razz.. I try to read then both sides, all angles, etc., so that I can make an informed opinion. Yes, this could just be another military training, but in large scale. OR it could be training for something more sinister, like Martial Law. To be honest, I really dont trust our President. 2016 is re-election year. If we end up in a mess like that, he can stay in office, so I understand.
I often wonder if our countries demise, will actually come from within itself.

Razz_: pstyletto, I didn't realize that. You seem to be correct. Dr. Ben Carson, a black neurosurgeon and likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate, has repeatedly stated that he believes there is a chance that the 2016 elections may not be held at all. Widespread anarchy gripping the country could be reason enough for the Obama administration to announce the implementation of martial law and the suspension of some, if not all, of Americans’ constitutionally protected rights — including the right to vote and hold national elections.

The only way there would be martial law would be if we were under an actual attack and perhaps take a nuke hit. There are not enough soldiers to handle a real martial law senario with a 310,000,000 population. Let's not forget that the economy will go straight into the toilet as well. Don't worry. The rich will not let this happen.

What I can tell you from my 62 years as an American...

There have been many administrations that this country has had to endure. Some good....some not so good. Some have been absolutely brillant...and some...

However, most Americans agree...if you piss off the majority...there will be hell to pay.

For example...

We knew exactly who the enemy was that bombed Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th 1941. We lost thousands of people and lost a fleet. Germany had also declared war on the US on December 11th just a few days later. We had no military to speak of in 1941.

However...within a year...we built the most incredible war machine the world had ever seen. Our population was 133 million. Almost the entire country was tooled into military production.

The country knew we could not loose to Germany or Japan. It was a live or die reality. Many died protecting life and liberty from the genocidal Nazi's and blood sucking Japanese militaries.

As an American voter, I vote not only for who is going to bring a good economic time..but first, who is going to make the hard decisions at 3 am when the phone rings.

The current US administration is lame duck and wants to get out before the blood starts flowing. They do not want to be the ones to draw first blood in a major conflict. They want the legacy of being the peacemakers. They are just kicking the can down the road.

Perhaps the worst mistake this administration did...

......advertize the US military withdrawl date from Iraq and Afganistan and propagandize the peace loving US administration for ending 'wars'. Unfortunately 'Achmed' intrepted and jumped up and down in jubilation that they, the terrorist was in business and was going to be for a long, long time.

And now....the middle east is out of control because of it.

So, perhaps not in my lifetime, the US is going to get hit again. Israel is going to get hit.

Its how the US responds that will determine her future.

Will the US respond like America did in 1941? Or will the US respond like the current administration and run away and 'hope' we are not destroyed.

chronology: Interesting Post david. The U.S. still enforces the 'Posse Comitatus' law I think it is called.

The Law has some 'grey areas tho. 'Training Maneuvers' like those in Texas you mentioned would not be classed as a 'deployment' of United States Personnel U.S. Army Navy and Air Force and Marine Military Police also have more freedom of actions than Combat Personnel. The use of helicopters and Aircraft also fall into a 'grey area' . The D.O.D. insists it has no 'Black Helicopters' which are constantly reported in some States. F.B.I. investigations into theft and slaughter of cattle have also drawn a blank as far as Military Helicopters are concerned.

Violations of the Posse Comitatus Law have most often been a result of 'good will' actions by Federal Army Staff such as when Military Police assisted their colleagues in local Police in a crisis such as the 'spree killer' in Mississippi. People were being murdered and the Military Police rushed to help out, but Officers were later questioned about their actions. I think the U.S. Army was questioned about searching for survivors on a beach after an plane crash.

The U.S. Military folks sound like friendly good neighbours in a disaster, but they are viewed as 'trespassing' by some local people.

The standing military does not get involved unless the National Guard gets overhelmed but then a state can ask another state National Guard assistence if needed. You will not see the US Marines patroling the hood.

After 911, emergency services enhansed training for bio, chem, nuclear attacks. The military is doing the same considering ISIS and the other terrorist groups that have threatened the US homeland. I would believe that the military must train for these types of attacks as one would expect.

The Laws about Federal Troops was written before such Agencies as the FBI were created. The U.S. Coast Guard also has complete freedom to move in all U.S. States. The Secret Service also has freedom of movement in States.

Outbackjack: Well Thomas Jefferson was definitely wrong when he supposedly said "When a government fears its people there is liberty." Or was he?

Governments do fear their own people and always have done right back into ancient history. When you look back at our greatest thinkers and people who have made us who we are there is one common theme.

These people were seen as radicals by their governments/authorities and imprisoned and/or executed.

Socrates,Gallileo, even Jesus if he existed.I could go on.

Governments have good reason to fear their own people because they are tyrannical and are there to solely protect the privileges of a select few whilst throwing a few crumbs from the plate to keep the majority placid. When you look at revolutions they are actually a pretty common occurrence throughout history. The Arab spring is a recent example. The U.S was actually founded on revolution.

Keeping the masses happy with cheap Chinese gadgets cannot go on forever when you consider their are a ot of unemployed and a whole generation who are already and about to be locked out of the housing market. The whole world economy nearly foundered in 2008.We were that close. If the bond market had followed the stock market crash then we would all be weaving baskets, Governments have only made the matter worse by printing more money and postponing the inevitable. You can't make something (money) out of nothing.

Governments may well be preparing for terrorist attacks but you better believe that they are also preparing against a major uprising by its own people.

The poop will hit the fan if the electrical grid is knocked out. That is the Achilles Heel for the US. That is what I really fear the most. If the power is knocked out for more than a few weeks...anarchy and mayhem.

Just imagine what electricity operates. Gas pumps. Water pumps. Sewage. Refrigeration. Computers. Banks. Garbage removal. Trucks without fuel so there is no moving of food. Phones.

Damn.

chronology: Jack, I would have to again take issue with your demonising of 'Government' not that any Government needs my support.

Socrates was not killed by 'the Government' he was accused of 'corrupting the youth with his teaching' by a rival debater. The Government had no part in his death, tho I am no expert on Classical Greek History. Like many I just stand in awe and admiration at their genius. But it was some petty argument that led to the death of one of histories greatest men in Greece.

Jesus Christ, if you believe in His teaching, was convinced that by dying in Jerusalem He would be empowered to forgive the sins of people who sought His help in some future Great Judgment in the After Life. Christ could justly forgive them having already paid for punishment with His own innocent death.

The Roman Governor Pilot was actually extremely reluctant to issue a death sentence as he could find no crime Jesus had committed.

Curiously Jack. The Roman Establishment was so baffled at the Trial of Jesus that they actually sent a Enquiry Team to gather the facts about 70 years later, the Gospel account of the Trial made no sense to them. This was during the rule of the Emperor Domitian.

Outbackjack: If you look closer Chrono I used the phrase "governments/authorities" to describe those that held power at the time.

Socrates was considered a traitor and a heretic by the Athenians and executed.

All I will say about Jesus Christ is the New Testament is a book that has been changed over and over to suit the religious hierarchy of the time. When you consider the heavily modified King James Bible is a bedrock for most of the modern bibles in use then quite clearly we can not even begin to take any of it seriously.

chronology: The Roman Establishment could make no sense of the Gospel account of the trial of Jesus. 'Pilot knew Jesus was innocent and yet handed Him over to be executed' ? The Enquiry set up by Domitian was to establish the facts about Christianity which was becoming a rival to Rome's Pagan Religions at the time.

The Report brought back to Rome has been lost as far as we know. When the Roman Officers arrived in Jeruselem the locals who heard the Roman Officers wanted to speak to them hid, or were filled with fear when questioned by the Officials from Rome. The Roman Enquiry Team could only find a few people still living who had been present in Jeruselem at the time of Christs Execution, their story seemed to support the Gospel accounts, but we have no surviving copy of the Roman Report. So the Romans, Jack, would disagree with you, and they actually spoke to some folks who were there at the time.

The folks in Rome would also raise their eyes to the Heavens at your comments about the Gospels being inacurate, Rome held numerous Councils and Meetings to decide which Gospels are true, and finally settled the matter with Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. Gospels which are the same today as they were when written by the early believers around AD70.

I really have to smile when thinking of how Romans would walk away from you Jack saying 'enough' 'enough' . The haggaling and arguing went on for years before Rome could finally establish the collection of New Testament Books.

I have to agree with the fine folks of Old Rome 'enough already Jack, the matter is settled' !
Please Jack, no more on this, or read the accounts of the early Roman councils.

(Even dear Romulus and Remus would throw up their hands in despair at that old argument being dragged up) .
