Putin would be proud of you. .  chronology: The two greatest achievments of Americans as a people in moving society forward so 'all' people, not just the rich could live a better life was 1 'The Reconstruction' after the Civil War when the U.S. Army enforced Civil Rights and voting Rights for all. 2 The 'New Deal' when the social safety net was put in place. Dozens of countries followed the American example in these projects and America was seen as the 'locomotive of progress' by social planners around the world.  kittybobo34: David , the government wasn't owning health care, it was regulating it, forcing the insurance compananies to offer actual standard benefits so you could shop and compare apples to apples in different plans. Everyone knows the way to cheaper health insurance is a very large pool of insurers, this would have made it national in scope. davidk14: . Dental and glasses are included. My last heart attack cost $104K and the cost to me was....sitting down? $5k or less than 5% of the entire bill. So dont tell me our current system doesn't work.
