The13th: No cabbage, I disagree. Putin has been a very decent, honest and capable politician and states man. David Letterman likes to joke about him always showing his naked torso while doing fishing in the river but thats not the point - just goes to show he is in some way likable.

Putin is very different from Stalin. And Stalin, another immensely huge historic figure,is way above and beyond my ability to judge. We know what he did, but we are ill qualified to judge. We are like nobody compare to him.

The13th: May be as a people they haven't develop something special to bind themselves as a nation? I remember my mate Stalin kind of doing something very harsh there. Normal people e.g. Irish would have develop a strong sense of nationalism but I don't ever heard of a Ukraine uprising. I wonder what kind do people are they.

LiptonCambell: ...You haven't heard of an Ukraine Uprising?

Clearly you are ignorant of what this topic is about then. Ukraine opposed their leadership, and had an uprising- and Russia stepped in to take control and quell the riots

This topic is ABOUT an Ukraine Uprising, and the effect it's had on the international community.

The13th: Ya u have to forgive my ignorant. I afraid my old fashion notion of uprising are learned men with strong believe taken up arm and hide in the mountain and jungle take on army and sort out the difference. Not some city dealer decide to occupy square and paralyze and hurt their country.

So now if the ukraine say No u arent taking crimea and fight russia or die trying, that sort of fit my understanding of uprising. I just dont remember ever hearing of any history of ukraine having a go at the russia.

smelly 500: LOL...nice try...Stalin used same rationale snd specious logic when he enslaves and murdered millions to make the "evil empire" called so correctly by Ronald Reagan. I agree with him, and see Russia as an enemy of free world, gangstera, and lowest class of humans on earth....

The13th: OK I think this is a plausible scenario: as a nation Ukraine probably have many factions. The ousted government, while not necessarily very popular at least attempt some baalancing act to keep the country in one piece. Then some demonstration get out of hand, one or more sinister factions decide to exploit this, send some sniper to kill some clueless demonstrators, and sieze power. Now all other factions who are not part of the government get worry and wanted out.

So the Ukraine people start all these. All I can say is: be careful what u ask for, you may actually get it.

smelly 500: Americans, and I am a 100% American who loves America more than any place on earth, have always held out an olive branch, help, humanity, aid and decency to Russia and its people..and what do we get in return....Russian hatred, a slap in the face, jealousy, ill will and an America hater like Putin...for me, an American, that makes Russians disgusting and ungrateful , lead by a tyrant who wouldn't hesitate to destroy an American like me

Slaughterin: Cabbage24, backing a coup to overthrow a pro-Russian government (elected government), isn't an olive branch. The US citizens on this site that I've come across in Political topics have a lot of irrational fear and place their government in a saintly light. I guess it is a culture thing.
