It seems the thread name came from an article from the University of Lethbridge, in Lethbridge, Alberta (Canada), a very left wing anti-Israel institution. Actually the country of Canada supports Israel 100% as does every western country that believes in freedom and liberty. Israel itself is a law abiding liberal society leaning left in its beliefs. It is unfortunate that most that believe Israel is the most hated country also support the fundamentalist, radical, extremist Islamist. Israeli citizens enjoy the freedom of expression most radicals hate. There are many in Israeli society that believe the Israeli government should move forward more quickly with the peace process with the Palestinians.

However, there is a glitch....

Hamas, the organization based in Gaza that is committed to the complete destruction of Israel and the genocide of the Jewish population. They continually are firing rockets into Israel almost on a daily basis targeting Israeli civilian population centers but then...you all know this...right?

Even after Israel recently released hundreds of convicted murderers of Jews as a 'good faith gesture' for the peace process, the Palestinians still have not moved the peace process forward at all.

So perhaps maybe those that think Israel is the most hated country on the planet, perhaps, should cut Israel a break. Perhaps NKorea, Iran, Sudan, could take the front billing as the most hated country. Perhaps?

They are not boycotting Israel. They are boycotting anything sold by an Israeli in the West Bank. There are even restaurants in Tel Aviv, Jewish owned restaurants, that are boycotting wine that is produced in the West Bank by Israeli's.

If you do not believe that Israeli's will defend themselves, you are sadly mistaken. These terrorists that fire rockets into Israel from Gaza are who you should be shaking your fist at. Lets not forget that it is the bureaucrats in the West Bank that are plundering the hundreds of millions of dollars sent by the West to help the people but most of the funds are not getting to the people. Lets not forget that Arafat was a millionaire many times over from his plundering of funds.

You want to see peace in the Middle East? Hamas must be disbanded. Nothing more...nothing less. Lets hear you at least agree with this. Then maybe we can continue with the who, what, where and when the peace process can move forward...but once again...you must agree that Hamas must be disbanded.

This was sent to me. It is basically for young people to understand but...I think you will comprehend too....

I happen to witness a Jews wedding many years ago in Australia ..and its interesting ... they bring their own cooking ware to the function center ...I guess they are a bit different from me .... I may not necessarily convince that they are god chosen people .... (may be my 9 year old son like to have that title as well haha) ... but if they want to think so by all means do so ....... maybe their conflicts with surrounding people of that region are unfortunately unavoidable .... but I think most people around the world who are vaguely aware of their history wish them well ....

Captain Canada: Mr.Davidk14 you said ""You want to see peace in the Middle East? Hamas must be disbanded. Nothing more...nothing less.""
Who was there before Hamas?
Why not disband the CIA,Raw,MI6,Moffat,Cis etc?
Why USA doesn't stop policing the world?

It seems to me that Israel to be happy is if all nations in the surrounding area just to vanish along with it's citizens.Once all this is complete maybe Israel can go at present day Germans and blame them for killings and hardship endured to the Jewish community with the Hitler's regime, once that is complete and done with the Germans maybe Israel should take on the Italians on behalf of the Roman Empire and make them pay for all the suffering during the occupation many many noons ago.

Also, you cannot just disband Hamas which is more than just an armed organization .... it actually believe in something ....destruction of Israel ...and behind that probably something religious or nationalistics...and its hard to disband a believe ....

I just want to know ..if Jews did not establish the state of Israel .... but instead ask to return to the "homeland" under a Palestinian government ...would the Arab reach out and lend them a helping hand? May be 1948 is just not the time to think about the state of Israel ....

David responds:

Then according to your comments, it goes down to either the destruction of Israel or the destruction of Hamas..or one of them packs up and leaves and that aint gonna happen. With Hamas, there will be no peace in the Middle East.

David responds:

In 1948 both the Arab and Jew according to the UN 1948 Resolution, were both given lands to develop. The Jew accepted the plan, the Arab did not and within a week the Arabs tried by military force to extinguish the Jewish people. We all know how that ended.

The13th: Funny with all the wisdom of the UN .... they cannot foresee or predict what is to come next? I thought all those statesmen would know just because a thing is right or fair does not mean it will always work in this complicated world. Anyway, if it were to be called a resolution ... then UN should resolve to send in help when Israel is under siege ... but none came I suppose ... may be that should be called "UN 1948 goodwill gesture" ... "we wish u all the best in your future undertaking ..bye and u are on your own".

Perhaps you should read from other sources besides ultra liberal progressive Canadians.

The following from Reuters and found it distributed from Yahoo News:

The threat of Israel boycotts more bark than bite

February 23, 2014 10:23 AM
By Crispian Balmer

But the bulk of Israeli business is clustered on the Mediterranean coast, a world away from the roadblocks and watchtowers of the West Bank, and not even the Palestinian leadership is demanding a total economic boycott.

"The boycott is being used like a bogeyman, a scary story you tell a child at night," said Jonathan Medved, CEO of OurCrowd, a crowdfunding platform looking to provide venture capital to Israeli companies.

"The truth is that Israel is a world leader in water technology, next-generation agriculture, cybersecurity, healthcare innovation and start-ups. What sane person is going to walk away from that?"

But EU diplomats say business with firms operating in the settlements, such as skincare company Ahava, represent less than 1 percent of all Israeli-EU trade, which last year totaled $36.7 billion, up from $20.9 billion a decade earlier.

However, Europe is not united on how to deal with Israel and has not yet even agreed to introduce EU-wide labeling to make clear if goods come from settlements, much less anything more radical along the lines suggested by Lapid.

Germany's biggest lender Deutsche Bank AG denied reports last week that it was set to boycott Israeli banks, while the giant Dutch pension fund ABP announced this month that after a review, it saw no need to cut ties with Israeli banks.

All the while, foreign firms continue to pour into Israel. According to the latest Bank of Israel data, direct investment was $10.51 billion in the first nine months of 2013, up from $9.5 billion for the whole of 2012. Exports to Europe rose 6.3 percent last year.

Global brands such as Google, Cisco, Microsoft, Twitter, Apple, AOL and Facebook have all invested in Israel, so, like it or not, users of computers, smartphones and apps could well be supporting Israeli engineering.

"All the talk about boycotts has not so far caused any damage to our economy," Uriel Lynn, president of the Israeli Chambers of Commerce, told Reuters.

"Israel has gone through much harsher boycotts in the past. For example, we did not have commercial relations with China for years, and for a time we could only buy crude oil from Mexico and Egypt. So we can definitely withstand boycotts."

Perhaps it is called "being the adult in the room". For example, there are those that believe that the American south west (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California) still belong to Mexico and are actively trying to create a new country. Of course it will never happen, but there are those that are trying. There are the adults in the room, and then there are the loons.
