Comandante FiLTH: OCD, you've placed forward: 0 except an ad hominem and some emotes.

Exactly what are you disagreeing with? Because you seem to not want to address what I stated which is there are Americans who supported and voted based the Obamacare.

Comandante FiLTH: OCD, it is not facts if you're arguing something very different. I might as well argue about domestic violence. The point is that there are people who support this, your own country men. Ignore away, I should go to lunch and besides, I'm more interested in the debt ceiling and China's words.

But you wont see that on the news.

Comandante FiLTH: No, perhaps wouldnt see it in the news, will just see it in your post.
The nature of 'system' or voting, is it is limited and this is one part of it. The purpose is to reflect the majority of people's views on how they want to see their country run. Ideally. There is no consensus, so when you don't get what you want at times you gotta suck it up.

......"People like Marilynn Gray-Raine.

The 64-year-old Danville artist, who survived breast cancer, has purchased health insurance for herself for decades. She watched her Anthem Blue Cross monthly premiums rise from $317 in 2005 to $1,298 in 2013. But she found out last week from the Covered California site that her payments will drop to about $795 a month.

But people with no pre-existing conditions like Vinson, a 60-year-old retired teacher, and Waschura, a 52-year-old self-employed engineer, are making up the difference.

"I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today," Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.

"I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year, that's otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy."

Both Vinson and Waschura have adjusted gross incomes greater than four times the federal poverty level -- the cutoff for a tax credit. And while both said they anticipated their rates would go up, they didn't realize they would rise so much.

"Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the
one who was going to pay for it personally."...

OCD_OCD: If you smoke, they are going to hammer you. They are allowed to discriminate (expensively) against smokers. 50% MORE? WTF?

"How do you combat tobacco use without discriminating against smokers? The ACA attempts this balancing act by allowing insurers to continue their practice of charging tobacco users a so-called "smoker surcharge" but limiting it to 50 percent above the rates they charge nontobacco users, beginning in 2014."

OCD_OCD: ...""Even though more Americans will be labeled “insured” under ObamaCare, even more doctors plan to refuse government insurance and its unrealistically low payments. This extends beyond the roughly 36 percent that already don’t accept new Medicaid patients, including 58 percent of internists and the more than one-third of cardiologists, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, family practitioners, gastroenterologists, and urologists, according to Jackson and Coker’s survey last year. In addition, more than 20 percent of primary care doctors refused to see any new Medicare patients (only 4.5 percent refused new privately insured patients) and last year, a full 25 percent of all doctors said they do not accept new Medicare patients. No wonder that 29 percent of Medicare beneficiaries who were looking for a primary care doctor had trouble finding one, according to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission. All of this existed before the recently proposed pay cuts or IPAB price limits. Meanwhile, more than 3 million seniors will be turning 65 each and every year for the next two decades, becoming newly eligible for Medicare at an average rate of 11,000 per day. Ironically, instead of improving access to care, the ACA will do just the opposite and worsen the situation."...

Serabi:

I don't understand this. In the bad old apartheid days, nobody paid for Health insurance. The provincial (Government) hospitals treated Private patients (with their own private doctors) to those who could not afford to pay for medical services at all. Each patient was classified by their income P1 - P4 and H1 - H0. Patients were catered for in the same wards, had the same nursing care, received the same medication, etc.

All of this was covered by the Annual income taxes paid. The largest, most modern hospital in the Southern hemisphere was Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital - in Soweto, a black township of Johannesburg. Baragwanath was more modern than Grootte Schuur hospital where Prof Chris Barnard performed the first successful human heart transplant.

'Private' patients preferred to rather be seen by the Provincial doctors than private doctors. The reason being that, in their 7th (last) year, medical students became 'housemen' doctors. Every patient thus, had a whole panel of doctors assessing and deciding on treatment and care. This all happened under the watch of professors and consultants from the various universities.

Were the governments of old more conscientious when it came to spending taxes? Where do the taxes go now? I know where our taxes go - right into our beloved ANC's pockets - paying for ultra-luxurious homes and 6 cars each, but what about the American peoples' taxes?

How much of the budget should be allocated to health? Is the war mongering eating up tax money? Surely taxes should be apportioned to different budgets.

When the National party ran the country, no illegal immigrants in need of medical attention were ever turned away. (And we had a lot of illegal immigrants from all over Africa who thought that the Apartheid system was still better than what happened in their own African countries.)

Where do taxes go now?

And there's government funding for shrimp on treadmills, government parties. The government just (during the shutdown) placed a $5 million contract for crystal stemware, etc. In other words, it goes to special interest groups who have greased the palms of politicians in Washington.
