Pakistan..Again, why are we sending billions to the Pakistani's?? (Page 2)

Anyway, back on topic do you think the Republicans like the ones before them will continue to give aid to Pakistan if they got into power??? WE have a conservative government in the UK and they still give aid to them despite Pakistan being a hotspot for terrorist training camps.

OCD_OCD: Lavendar, Republicans and Democrats have given aid to Pakistan. They are politicians, all. I honestly believe that, while both Republicans and Democrats have threatened to pull the aid to Pakistan, it's not going to happen because the money makes the Pakistani government calm enough to deal with. They are already crazy people and if we took their money away they'd be crazy people with a nuke and angry starving people.

OCD_OCD: The US seems to give aid to all sorts of people all over the world. We give aid to some of the most disgusting tyrants ever. It's money to keep them quiet and satiated. I think they believe that if we make them comfortable enough, they won't go killing their people or attacking neighboring countries.

I wouldn't have Hilary Clinton's job for all the money in Steve Job's wife's bank accounts.

lavendar_star: Yes your so right there, its like the US and the UK are held to ransom, I mean when people become hungry then become more hostile and their government can play the anti west card which can lead to more terrorists being created. Its so difficult and your right about being the foreign minster regardless on what political side they are on, it is too easy for us to criticise them and we have right to do so but they do have difficult decisions to make. The doctors is probably right about the Pakistani views of the US but not giving them aid could be more dangerous, like the saying goes "keep your friend close but your enemies closer".

The not-so-free and militant world looks to China and Russia to run interference for them.

lavendar_star: So on point there OCD even recently with Libya and now Syria, and both nations still have to answer first to their own citizens who have their own problems.

OCD_OCD: I know. We are chit shot either way aren't we? If we arm the Libyans and they kill Gadaffi, then we're hated. Yet Gadaffi was murdering his own people. Afterwards we will end up with a dead tyrant and a rabid Muslim Brotherhood. Fair trade? Hardly.

Syria will be no different, either and the reason is that the middle east does not believe in democracy. They do not believe in freedom or equality and they never will.

lavendar_star: Well I dont know if that's all the middle east, Turkey and Morocco are good examples but I get your point though. As long as they base there society on a very conservative relgious doctrine then it will never happen. The vote was about 50- 50 in Egypt so some people do want democracy but the majority win out and that's democracy to have no democracy the irony, its scary.

You could say leave them to it but if they have people in their society that may wish to do harm in your country can we leave them to it. I mean the other day in Iraq they have 60 bombs going off, the mind boggles, why do you want to mess up your country and kill your fellow citizens. I think no matter how long the West is in Iraq or Afghanistan things are not going to get better (they have got better a bit) but obviously some are willing to murder so that they can go back to the old days.

"They do not believe in freedom or equality and they never will". sadly for some in those nations they dont and are willing to die for that and no matter what we do or others do in their country that seems it wont change, that's depressing.

Perhaps it is the cold war thought process. If we don't send them money, the other guy ie: Russia, China, etc. becomes their new best friend.

However, a new "best friend" is now out there....Radical Fundamentalist Islam. IF we say bye bye to Pakistan....Pakistan says hello to Radical Islam as their new best friend.

We said bye bye to Iraq and recently, Iraq opened it's air space to Iran so as to send troups and war supplies in support of Assad of Syria.

Comrade_: Ah thought so, I saw China was doing something similar with one of the Caribbean countries, offering money to build a stadium, didn't seem to be any benefit to them nor much for the other country..along with other 'gifts'. All probably at a cost later on.

There should be another route to maintain trust/understandings amongst countries though, money has a way of drying up.

A lot of people do send money to people in the USA. It is obviously a scam as it is a lost civilisation and no one lives there. So I wonder where the money goes???? Or to what the money goes?? The letters certainly don,t cross the Atlantic.

But more than money it is the military equipment that the US donates to Pakistan which is a cause of worry. While it doesn't sell nuclear weapons it does sell Airplanes like the F-16 which are capable of delivering nuclear payloads. It also allows the sale of planes which can act as early warning system . Most of these weapons would be used against America if they tried to attack Pakistan. Kind of ironical isnt it.
