Malobear: There is a excellent article about sharecropping at Wiki and worth reading if you wish to understand what happened after the civil war in regard to the slaves and poor white folks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharecropping
Most plantation owners after the war found ways to have slaves Black and White legally.
When the government moved my ancestors from North Carolina and Florida to Oklahoma, little did they know they moved a few of them in the Oklahoma oil fields. When the industrial revolution hit,all this land that at one time was worth nothing to the city or government folks, was worth a mint. There is a few of my direct family still well off today because of it. The crooks came in droves. They tried anything to get their hands on any claim to the land, even if it meant wedding a native woman to do it.
But most Native Americans were not so lucky. Reservations were setup to confine and reprogram the Natives way of life, this is where the christian church stepped in. They tried to change everything, all the way down from what we believed to how we dressed. But many Natives lived a duel path in life and still do. We still go to christian churches and are active in the church, but also practice the teaching of our forefathers years gone by. These teachings are still a part of everyday life and can be enjoyed by outsiders such as during Pow-Wows which most tribes have them yearly.

Yan26: I think Chronology and Malobear have helped establish exactly what I was trying to say.

Malobear referred to the people protesting in Syria and later said "The Muslims here in this country for the most part seem to not follow in their brothers and sisters ways in the middleeast."

Now the struggle in Syria is a political struggle for freedom. Iran's involvement is for Geo-political advantage. The only thing that Islam has to do with it is that most people in Syria are Muslims. Yet a mention of the peoples religion has been made.
On the other hand the KKK were all conservative Christians. Some of them found justification for their actions in their interpretation of the Bible. Yet you refuse to refer to their religion while discussing them.
Or for that matter the recent attack in Norway. How may refer to the killer as a Christian extremist even though he is one by his own admission. But if Al Qaeda had done it you would have said it was done by Muslim extremists.

It is this difference in representation that makes it seem that Muslims are more violent. If we applied the same yardstick to other religions too we may not view Muslims as violent.

JeanYves72: Sorry but I feel no pity for those who felt that they had the right to treat other human beings like possessions because of their colour chronology. Oh and I wasn't being sarcastic. That is what I thought. They built their wealth on the subjugation of others. It is only right that those who were forced to work as slaves should have a share in what they helped to build. The practice of hanging black men for 'sullying' the virtue of a white woman was hypocritical of them considering the number of women who weren't white that were raped. I don't demonize the South at all. I demonize the culture of looking down on others because of their colour. Not all Southeners would have supported slavery and not all Northeners would have supported abolition of slavery. It is the thinking, not the area that is very, very wrong.

I never said that Al-Qaeda are in the right. If anything they need to be fought against as there is no excuse for the harming of women and children. If anything those that encourage it need to be gutshot as that's the only penalty for the random and deliberate harming of innocents in my eyes. They say we persecute them, we say they persecute us. It is a small group that do so on both sides. Who want to feed the fear, ignorance and hatred on both sides of the situation.

slasian: Yan26, u r simply blind. Have you ever seen any Christian (in the 21 century) shouting out loud the lords name in a political rally, demonstration or protest? Have you seen any christian calling the lords name in a civil war or in a rebellion against a corrupted government?

some times we have to see the truth, and all we see is Muslims like to make it religious! Why is it necessary to say Allah wakber to chase Qaddafi's solder? aren't they Muslims to? Was it necessary to cry out Allah wakber in the streets of Cairo?

The news shows many Muslims think in black and white only. Politics is politics, war is war and religion is another thing, but Muslims as if it is some religious rally they love to shout the lords name in vain!

I am sorry but this is what we saw every day every place where Muslims are the majority. I did not say that Christians had never killed in the lords name (the Spanish inquisition and colonization are good eg ) but it was in the past. you know just take 2000 AD as a beginning and how many killings had been counted in the name of Allah and Islam? I know that the true spirit in Islam doesn't support this. Then compare it with those done in the name the Christian God.

some crazy people might commit murder in the name of the lord but its a shame to support it with a doctrine and a sense of preserving religion.

Haha, this post is such BS. I can personally attest to being heckled by Christians. The vast majority of Christians are lovely, but you are the one who is blinded if you assume that no Christians have the qualities you mentioned.

Oh and you want a modern day example of violent Christianity? Northern Ireland.

slasian: sarcasticdots, can you read! I said compare it. you said you can personally attest it. I said all the medias attest my point. lets not make things personal, I clearly said crazy people might kill in the name of the lord either a Christian or a Muslim. But we had seen a lot from the Muslim countries and open your eyes. We all need to open our eyes because the lords name shall never be used to kill a man.

slasian: Then were are the facts? Why was it necessary to shout Allah wakber to over throw the Tunisian, Libyan or Egyptian tyrants? was it a religious question?
Well I will tell you why; it is because Muslims, wrong interpretations of the Qur'an, think that every thing is religion based.

Yan26: slasian - you said " they love to shout the lords name in vain!"
Now no religion other than Christianity(as far as I know) forbids you from taking the lord's name in vain. So the use of this Christian phrase obviously means this is a Christian attempt to defame Muslims right?

Wrong
You have used the term simply as a phrase with no intention of bringing religion in. The same could be said for phrases like " Sweet Jesus" , " Holy Mother ..." and countless other phrases.
Similarly the people in the Middle East use Allah 0 Akbar as a phrase for various thing. While it is an Islamic phrase it is common to use them for non religious things too.

Some people refuse to learn about other cultures simply because they refuse to believe that anything can be equal to the Western-Christian civilisation/culture.

Since you refuse to learn about their culture you judge their actions within the framework of Western-Christian culture. This ignorance about their culture makes you misunderstand their action.

These misunderstandings leads you to mistrust them and fear them.

The only solution is to educate yourself about their culture . The media has shown itself incapable of being bi-partisan.You have stated it multiple times that your source of information is the media. So all the people who are really worried about them should learn about them first and then form an opinion about them.

That was my point from the very beginning.

JeanYves72: The media is based on selling news. I have a friend on my list who is a Muslim. Certainly not one who is a intolerant and ignorant bigot who twists what the founder of her faith said to defend intolerance, ignorance and hatred. If anything she has a reason to be the opposite of the beautiful person she is as she lives in the Gaza. I have looked at the Qur'an and NOTHING that the nutcases who think it's ok to blow up and shoot down innocent women and children claim is in it.

Everything is religion based when you have a faith that is lived everyday. The problem is slasian that it is used by a few to feed their own blindness. An excuse to harm and control others. Just because Christian don't shout out the name of God does not mean that it is not something that is controlling their actions. Militant groups in the U.S claim to be Christian. Yet most are racist. Look at the individuals seperately. Don't look at religion but try to understand the faith. Religion destroys what the founders faith showed and expressed. If I judged my friend by what some idiots who happened to twist the faith she is living in its true essence then I would have missed out on something truly special and incredible.

memberX: @yan26...just a small correction in your post...

Slobodan Milosevic was never a member of the church(yet the church stood in his favor), he was a reformed communist into ultra nationalist..and he did what every president of one country is to do...to represent the will of majority of the people and defend his country from foreign military troops, but he failed cause of his evident lack of diplomacy.

PS.Anyone can go and write something in wiki or google...What served media is writing all over internet the history will erase.

slasian: It is really funny to argue with people who read only the line. I had never said Christians are holier or Muslims are evil, I said for the majority of Muslims everything is religion. The reason for that is Islam is a religion which detects how to… everyday activities.
If any of you have read the Qur’an, you would have said something about Jihad and the last day of the world. It said even the mountain will talk to the Muslims and tell on a hidden ka’fir so that it could be killed.

I had no problem with Muslims any more than a Christian.

About the things you said on the media; most of your arguments are based on conspiracy theories which are farfetched, looking at the tv doesn’t always mean looking at a lie it simply is looking at the world. Is it a fake story that America is killing innocent Afghanees? Or that Israel is murdering Palestinians? or that there is a draught in the horn of africa or that the arab nation is fighting tyrants? No! Just like that you see Muslims slaying a journalist saying, “Bismilahi Irahman Irahim” meaning By the name of Allah the merciful the compassionate.

Such kind of religious killings are so old fashioned that is my sole point. If it happens in Christianity we have to also denounce it firmly and may the good lord bless our world.

Yan26: Slasian : I am not a conspiracy theorist. My point was that the media is often ( not always) sensationalist. So it will show you pictures of Muslims crying Allah o Akbar but it wont tell you that in most Middle Eastern countries that is a kind of exclamation . That is something you have to learn about by educating yourself. By my posts I have simply tried to show another side of the Muslim picture, not the one you are fed by most media coverages, in the hope more people educate themselves about them rather than fall victim to fear mongering.
The person slaying the journalist is a terrorist. You realise in none of my posts have I tried to defend such a person. Yes for those people everything is about religion.
My posts are meant to defend the Muslim populace in general not terrorists.
I am not asking anyone to like Muslims. I am simply stating that if you rely only on one source(especially a predominantly sensationalist news media) for all your information you are bound to get the wrong idea about them.
