Is the United States a Police State? (Page 12)

Bump said: So Morrison is ex navy? That immediately makes his writing suspect to me sorry. In all likelihood any claims he makes in his works will be exaggerated so as to appeal to the American public.

David response: Do you know of any documents or historical authors to disprove his writings? I completely understand your reservations. The soldier in the field definitely has different memories especially when 500 pound bombs are bursting all around him and his comrades are being blown to bits.

Bump said: Once again Blackeyedbabe would be a far more reliable source as she has lived there.

David responds: Again I understand. On the other hand, what she knows is first person and her grandfathers memories are also first person and probably may or may not reflect on others memories of the times.

Bump said: As I said before much more credence should be given to anecdotal evidence. I had 2 uncles serving in the Pacific in WW2 and their memories were totally at odds with the "official" American history.

David responds: My father saw and felt firsthand the atrocities of the Nazi’s and yet there are those ‘revisionists’ in 'academia’ that deny that the atrocities ‘were not that bad’. Yet, physical evidence and historical data do support his firsthand experiences.

Bumpa said: academia is too full of bullshit to be considered at all reliable today. My own field of climate change is a prime example.

David responds: All academia? So those who have documented and researched the Holocaust are not at all reliable? Perhaps the word ‘all’ should be ‘there are those in academia’?

Bumpa said: Writers write for the kudos of being published, not to present truths

David responds: There is that reflection the word ‘all’ writers again.

Bumpa said: Much of American military history has been written by leaders with political ambitions eg: Eisenhower, Clark and, as such, is self serving crap.

David responds: Would you include MacAurther?

Bumpa said: My own field of climate change is a prime example.

David responds: Hell, I don’t know what is real or not. There is so much from ‘each’ side of the topic. However, I do believe that since the planet evolved from a ball of molten lava, I think the planet will survive any damages humans have or could cause. Yet, man can screw things up pretty good to someday possibly extinguish the human experience. Perhaps in 10 million or even 65 million years from now, archeologists from another world will visit and determine how humans became extinct. Yet , in around 4 billion years…it won’t make a difference at all.

Bumpa: SuperKash talks a lot of sense.
A great man, Baha'u'llah once said "The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens". So maybe I should stop bashing America and accept the fact that Americans are my brothers and sisters.
Not quite as evolved as the rest of us, but family nevertheless

duckieboy: if you study the history behind US involvement in international affairs you will notice that they always end up with the US issuing ultimatums and therefore wars break out. fact that after the wars are over and done and US departs said war countries they end up having the same corrupt govenment most of the times just with a new political warhead left to manage a war torn people. the US only seems to get involved if it gains either natural resources or has a millitary post left behind in these poverty stricken countries. i dont agree with wars just for the fact that after they are done they do more damage to the regular civilians than they do to the actual people behind the millitary uniforms? and the fact that the US spends so much of its capital to finance its millitary instead of using said capital to better its recession stricken country has left me bewildered and ashamed it doenst focus less time on wars and international affairs and focuses more on getting us out of this bullshit recession. less wars and less capital spent on millitary would equal better chance of us crawling out of this recesion.
