Thus it also was, and still is with the civil rights movement. The two movements are in fact very much alike. Women had to fight for the right to vote, attend university and hold positions of power within government, as did the African American community. Because of the actions of the early pioneers of these movements, such rights are now enshrined into law. These movements have transformed somewhat, recently, from focusing on obtaining rights through the letter of law to attempting to change public perceptions and attitudes. The fact that there are still many paranoid men about, such as yourself, Blitzkrieg, shows that the feminist movement still has much work to do in changing those perceptions. Rest assured, my friend, they are not attempting to subdue your manliness and you can feel free to strut about in all your macho flamboyance without restriction. You're cute.  spankdmonkey: In Australia it is pretty well equal rights ,We also have discrimination boards if you feel you have been discriminated against or sacked unfairly or you have been sexually harrased then all things are in place, you do not accept nothing less then equal rights .in saying that there is also jobs that men can do better then women especially when your talking about heavy hard yacka .There is also jobs that women do better then men it balances out .The thing is the opportunities are there for women if they want to take on a mans job they certainly get the chance in this country as ive seen women break into new fields working in mines, mens prisons, police forces, etc etc .There is a lot of countries that do discriminate against women though and i do not think that"s right .All men and women are equal get the message out .I dont think there is a religion that does not discriminate against women if there is i havn"t found it yet  Metaverseguy: Doosy, you bring up an interesting point. However, women are in over their heads if they think they can fight equality in the workplace. Economic inequality and wealth distribution has been unequal for centuries even among people of the same religion, race, and gender so how do women expect to suddenly equate this factor? Considering strength and physical attributes into the equation assumes that wealth is distributed evenly among the amount of work done, etc. It is not like that at all. Laissez-faire capitalism works in an economy of supply and demand. If you work your ass off in a company that produces a product with no demand, you will make significantly less than someone who doesn't work hard at all in an industry that has huge demand. Well perhaps women are saying they make a certain percentage of that pile, say 90% where a man makes 100%. Then I agree they should fight for workplace equality! I'm not sure how other countries work, but ever since WW2 the U.S. workplace has been full of women and it has changed quite a bit to accommodate them. Yes, I believe a male firefighter should be paid more if he is required to do more work, but should a firefighter who works out and can bench 250 lbs demand more also? What about if a mail supplier delivers all day while his manager plays golf? Should he also demand more? Perhaps in white collar work the fight for equal pay will be the most successful. No one can discriminate against work ethic when pushing paper all day. Men have been going topless for hundreds of years ,Its upto each person in the world to realise it is a right of freedom to dress how u like ,Its no difference then wearing a hijab .the message needs to get out there and sink into peoples heads a woman has a right to look attractive ,sexy , and gorgeous without fear of being branded a slut ,, because that is not the case ..And men that look at it that way are just pigs (Edited by spankdmonkey) spankdmonkey: What should be enshrined in law is that all people are created equal and not all men ,thats where the mistake was made by Martin Luther ,When he said all men are created equal it should have been all humans are created equal and not by the colour ,creed gender ,or sexuality .We should start our own movement throughout the world and get the message out there that all humans are created equal and quite frankly that is the way it should be ..We all love our mums and sisters so why should they be treated any lesser ? the whole sytem is frought with errors .God is man ,why is he man ? Because man said he is ...In houses we have man holes yet a woman can get into one just as easy as a male so why .so many things that refer to man in law, relegion ,voting ,and heaps of other stuff .Yet there is no reason for this except to give the opinion that men are better .When really we are not any better , if you broke it down into differences it works out pretty equal, women are better then men at lots of stuff ,they multi task a lot better ,,,,they reason better then men ,, they ,are less violent ,. As a person in the fitness industry my whole life, and train others in armed combat still. i can assure you women are very capable .I specialise in project survival courses ,Women are right up there with the best in the country they just do not have the same amount of numbers so it is a mans domain in numbers but that is all, See Gerard what you are saying about women being raped can also happen to a man as a prisoner of war and it is no less or more traumatic then it would be for a woman ,actually it is them things that give a soldier the edge .While raping or being distracted by a women a man is more inclined to become excited and drop his guard and for that reason a woman would lead that enemy soldier to his death by stealing his gun or slashing his throat and a chance to escape ,you must realise everyone is created equal and women have a lot more power then men ,Women are heaps more stronger emotionaly then men .they have their strengths in differnet ways then men .  lavendar_star: Are you being serious GeraldtheGnome or trying be funny, women shouldn't be paid the same as men and Iran is a good place for women ok lol, I was getting worried with your comments on Iran, I happy that most men don't have the same beliefs as you and as expressed by spankmoney are more like him. thankfully or hopefully lol .
