Drug test + welfare = about darn time! (Page 4) FogofWar: Try answering my question. Addiction: noun The act of condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity. Addict: verb to devote or surrender (oneself) to something habitually or obsessively. Meriam-webster dictionary ...if you want to hold a double standard for certain addictions; go right ahead. FogofWar: note the term "surrender" oneself. Regardless of the addiction; be it sexual; be it drugs; coffee, smoking, alcohol. The addict is 100% responsible for their actions. Nicotina2: Fog you seem to know little to nothing about addiction. Read a little more than the dictionary's limited definition. FogofWar: Nicoretta you clearly didn't read any of my previous posts. Try going back a few pages and then get back to me. Nicotina2: For some one not concerned, you reply an awful lot. I haven't replied to all of your posts. Go figure. LiptonCambell: Lol youn I don't see whats the distinction you're making....you're saying that, if they're willing, they should be given a chance to go clean. And if they're unwilling, though? At least this much we should agree on! FogofWar: Read what I said again. I never compared rape to drug addiction. I compared an addiction to an addiction...and then asked if you will hold one to a different standard. Psychological disorder or not; you cannot say the rapist is responsible for his actions; when an addict is not...especially if you say the rapist has a psychological disorder. Outbackjack: What happens when the people on Welfare test positive to drugs? I assume that they will cut off their benefits. I suppose most of you think this is a good idea until they start breaking into your house to feed their habit? dave3974: perhaps when they break into my house they will learn a lesson that what they are doing is wrong ====if they want to do drugs and die early fine =====but not at my expense==what is so difficult about this message ? davidk14: . Perhaps when they break into my house they will learn all about Smith and Wesson. That'll learn 'em. . Malobear: "What happens when the people on Welfare test positive to drugs? I assume that they will cut off their benefits. I suppose most of you think this is a good idea until they start breaking into your house to feed their habit?" So Jack, what do you think the answer is? IvanIV: well its like this if you cant afford a habit dont have it. if you dont have a job dont have a habit. if your on welfare be looking for a job and able to pass the drug test to get one. when our four fathers said live free or die welfare wasnt what they had in mind. davidk14: . Vlad, Taking responsibility for ones own actions and being held accountable for those actions? Interesting concept. . FogofWar: Jack doesn't have any answers Malo...he never does. He criticizes every single person in the world who is taking action to make it a better place; but when push comes to shove; he won't do a thing about it...other than critize the help you give. Outbackjack: *ignores smog of the brain I dont have a perfect answer Malo. Its fair to say the drug war has failed and we need new approaches that centre around harm minimisation. Some countries provide hwzx%z to addicts. The U.K has in various forms since 1955.The question is is this a good idea. Its fair to say there would be less burglaries and crime to obtain drugs so the community as a whole would benefit. In theory I would say lets legalise, regulate drugs and tax them. This would work in areas of the world where drugs can be easily found already but might not work too well in say an area like mine where there are few drugs. I wouldnt want my kids having easier access to drugs. | Politics Chat Room 62 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
