So Israel evacuates the Gaza in response to the Oslo accords and turns the Gaza over to the Palestinian Authority in 2005. A year later Hamas slaughters the PA authorities and starts attacking Israel. Yet you don’t mention that. The homes and housing being built that are in question in the West Bank can always be sold to the Palestinians during negotiations. Israel abandoned 21 settlements in Gaza before leaving. My point was that people of all kinds use religion as a political tool. Yes, Zionists do believe Israel has a right to exist. Many Zionists also believe that those who were already living there lost the right to reside there because they are not of a particular heritage. The policies that result from this belief many would consider morally questionable. When that point is made Zionists often times attack critics with accusations of anti-semitism. That attack is the use of religion for a political purpose. Furthermore, it is using religion to mask policies that arguably counter values expressed in that very religion. I do think the Westboro example is pertinent. Like Zionists they use their religion as a tool to pursue their own agenda. That being that gays should have no rights, and be considered criminals. This idea could be seen contrary to brotherly love, and many Christian values. They use their religion in a way that could be considered in opposition to the tenets of that very same religion. Radical Islam follows the same pattern. Violence used under the excuse of Islam is actually counter to the values of Islam.
