{Excerpt} Police and social workers were last night accused of failing to investigate an Asian paedophile gang for fear of being perceived as racist, allowing them to prey on up to 50 young white girls.

The nine men from Rochdale were yesterday convicted of abusing five vulnerable teenagers after plying them with alcohol, food and small sums of money in return for sex.
However, the true number of victims, who were "passed around" by the gang, is likely to be nearer to 50, police have admitted.
Greater Manchester Police and the Crown Prosecution Service have now apologised after they failed to bring the case of the first victim - Girl A - to trial following her cry for help in August 2008.

One 13 year-old victim became pregnant and had the child aborted while another was forced to have sex with 20 men in one night, Liverpool Crown Court heard.
Complaints to social workers and the police were ignored because they were "petrified of being called racist", former Labour MP for Keighley Ann Cryer said.

It would be appropriate to think that the scum that carried out these acts would be jailed for life , but in soft touch britain they will be back on the streets in a few short years

OCD_OCD: Justice is meant to be blind. To both the victim and the perpetrator. I don't believe that any crime or any victim should be bypassed for any reason.

First of all this is different to the agenda driven post that someone made as that crime was investigated by the police whilst the claim with this sick crime was that it was not initially investigated by the police because the criminals where Asian, Im not sure all the victims were white I think some could of been Asian but regardless I think the case should of been dealt with immediately. I think if I could play devil advocate that the ultra PC liberals are worried that people would use such incidents to portray all Asian men as potential predators rather then a minority as over the decades which studies have shown there has been danger to some how allude race with criminality and to over represent ethnic minorities by the police and the media as being dangerous.

I think it is a shame that race is still such a preoccupied issue in our societies rather then it be a man who has committed the crime its a black man, white man etc, Also crimes committed on someone who of a different race to you is not always a racist crime on this case it could be.

On this issue I think it not specifically Asian men its British Pakistani men and its to do with their culture conflict not their race, I really hope lessons can be learnt from this and that the men get tough sentences for this vile crime, personally I think there is real issue with men in general concerning rape regardless of race and we defo need harsher sentences in the UK for it as too many girls n women are suffering and not many are not getting justice.

OCD_OCD: It's rampant everywhere, Lavendar. We have girls from Eastern Europe brought over by Eastern European mean with promises of jobs. Same thing with Illegal Hispanics doing the same thing to Hispanic women, Asians doing the same thing to Asian women, African to Africans. There isn't enough punishment for all of them if you ask me.

lavendar_star: We have the exact same thing in the UK sadly, as well as the home grown scum bags I think there's a rape every 10mins in the UK and out of 15.000 that go to court only a 1,000 men go to prison and here the sentences are not tougher enough. Its outrages.

I think with this case the bodies involved were too politicly correct and seriously let down the victims in the worse way and some far right groups have exploited it even more then they would have as symbol of the evils of multiculturalism, despite most rapes and sexual crimes normally happens from someone in your own race or who you know.

I just don't think much has been done to tackle it by government not much investment, I remember watching the show to catch a predator when they do sting operations on pedos but the police (it was in the US) said they dont have the money to hunt down and prosecute these sick bastards because much of the money goes to fighting terrorism we need to balance our priorities, seriously. .

OCD_OCD: Ive seen that show a couple of times, Lavendar. I saw one where the guy had been caught in the very same sting before. It's crazy. These people don't get better. They are very sick individuals.

lavendar_star: As I put I think the fear of labelling one section of society as a certain way has led to the problems of not tackling this sex grooming gang. We had a case in the UK about Stephen Lawrence which was not probably investigated by the police and resulted in a inquiry and only 10 years later some justice was done. Its from that and the past in general which sometimes has made the police and the media over sensitive with the race issue. On this case the issue with Islamic terrorism, segregated communities, immigration and concerns people have with the spread of Islam had led to some hostility especially up north of England which has resulted in agencies not wanting to flare up more problems.

I think in Western societies where minorities have been labelled in a certain way i.e. if a black person commits a crime its not because of them as a person but their race compared to (excluded if it considered a racist crime) if a white person commits a crime then its the person not their race they is taken issue with. As well as the false perception that only white people commit racist crimes has lead to even more problems in our society concerning race, which is such a shame. All things being equal as you highlighted OCD justice should be colour blind as well as the media unless there is specific trend and even then one should highlight culture rather then race. tricky situation and we shouldn't be in such a mess in the 21 century.

in western culture generally women are seen as sexual objects and with these sex grooming gangs there is a added cultural dimension to it.

I remember that blame the victim i.e children, it does seem they are refusing to take responsibility for their sons actions and hold their sons completely responsibly for their actions, which means there is no accountability and some others will continue to behave like that because some of the elders in that community see no problems with it and therefore dont address the issue. .

you have societies in the far east that go as far as killing female children because its better to have male children to carry on the family name

you have forced marriages in those same countries

you have honor killings as well
