(CNN) -- Congressional investigators are accusing the General Services Administration of violating its employee gift limit with rewards of iPods, digital cameras and other electronics, just as a video emerged of a lavish conference that shows employees drinking and making jokes about wasteful spending.
The video, first obtained by The Huffington Post on Friday, offered a glimpse inside the agency's $820,000 conference in Las Vegas. An administration official confirmed the authenticity of the video and provided a copy to CNN.
Reports of the lavish conference have prompted taxpayer outrage, embarrassed the administration and put a spotlight on the wasteful spending by the agency that acts as a real estate agency for the federal government.
"These videos reinforce once again the complete lack of judgment exhibited during the 2010 Western Regions Conference," said Greg Mecher, a GSA spokesman. "Our agency continues to be appalled by this indefensible behavior, and we are taking every step possible to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again."
The latest news comes just days after the Office of the Inspector General documented massive overspending by the GSA. The fallout from the report's revelations has sparked a congressional investigation and seen the GSA chief step down, two other employees fired and a number of others suspended.

I now can not find anything to support my comment that Bush was blamed for this outrageous spending spree. I know I heard it or read it on the internet (hopefully from a responsible source). If anyone can find the source, I'd be grateful so until I or you find it, I withdrawn my comment.

StuckInTheSixties
StuckInTheSixties:

I read the Fox article.

Big headline:

White House pushing blame on Bush administration for GSA debacle

Looked into the article, and the lion's share of it is just saying what everyone else is saying (which is not good by any stretch of the imagination): GSA wasting money, people are getting fired (as well they should).

Finally, down at the bottom, it delivers on the headline:

"The administration also argued Friday night that the cost of the Western Regional Conference increased sharply under the Bush White House -- from $93,000 in 2004 to $323,855 in 2006 to $655,025 in 2008, then $840,616 in 2010, or just 28 percent under Obama."

"The administration ..."

Kind of begs the questions ...

WHO in the administration? Why no name? Why no direct quote?

It's not the sort of information that one would want to be secretive about if one was the source.

As written, that could be anyone from the Vice President to the attendant of the Secret Service men's room.

There are two important things about this purported story:

WHAT was said, and WHO said it.

Reasonably, if there's no who, it makes one wonder if there's also no what.

So who's the who?

I'm ready to see actions and not words and finger-pointing. I don't care if the truth comes from the First Doggie as long as its true. LOL

OCD,

In February 2009, President Barack Obama said, "You can't get corporate jets, you can't go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers' dime."

http://articles.cnn.com/2012-04-04/opinion/opinion_welch-gsa_1_richard-kovacevich-wells-fargo-bank-bosses?_s=PM:OPINION

For anyone to point the finger at the Bush administration regarding spending close to a billion dollars of taxpayers money on a meeting in Vegas, is completely ignorant. Perhaps this meeting was done as a pay back for Obama's negetive comments? Nice to find out how this meeting was organized, who authorized and approved a billion dollars.
