Note how the northern european countries dominate the list. And before you say anything, the northern countries are the ones constantly trying to bail out the southern european countries.

the real slim DEEPy: ever read any of marx's economic works? ...totally deviod of mathematics and full of emotional arguments which utelize any existing jealousy in the minds of the sympathetic. well, ya, theres a little "logic" thrown in- the fundamental assertion that central planning is supposed to do away with the inefficciencies of conventional managegment, but this is hardly "logical" to the objective observer.

any business school can tell you that micro-management is highly ineffective, and thats exactly what central planning necessitates- micro-management of the highest, and likely, the most inefficcient, magnitude. and THEN, as if federal micromanagement isnt bad enuf, you also have to consider the inefficiency of beurocrocy and red tape. seeing your tax dollars at work is enough to know that government is anything but efficient. seeing the "mixed market" systems of past and present socialisms and communisms (from the NEP middlemen of lenin's wartime economy to the post-mau "market socialism" of china) is further evidence that governental inefficiencies are so great, they must be counter-balanced by some level of capitalism. all things considered, this great "solution" of socialism is a "cure" that is more harmful than that which was said to be the "disease".

the real slim DEEPy: th e same culture that is collaping the capitalist system will live on in socialism. the german cuture is that of innovation and hard work, the chineese system is that of cooperation and family-first. the culture of most of the west is greed, and greed will be the bane of socialism, just as it is capitalism.

cuarl: Chinese system is cooperation because they work so nicely next to each other at the factory line?
And family first since the grandparents have to raise their kids because they must move to wherever there is work or else the kid will be stuck in poverty or starve? Seeing their kids once a year(next week, yay! happy dragons year! ).

Perhaps if you swap it. Germany is family first and cooperation. Socialism and all.
Because China is hard work if any country is. And certainly in the top countries of greed too.

This. You write alot about logic and nice words about this and that but you didnt even mention that according to real life(The article I posted), northern european countries have a better life. After all, atleast me, am working to have a _good life_. I couldnt care less about bringing wealth to a few rich people in my country or having a huge military.
As long as I and my countrymen live a better life, my kids have a good education, my parents a good retirement, all of us a reliable healthcare; I dont have to worry, Im good.

Sofar we are all good but perhaps in the future with asia expanding their industrialism further we must reduce our welfare just like US are scaling down on their military. Perhaps. But atleast we had our welfare during these decades of west's economical era of power, and we will still have it even if in a reduced scale.

OCD_OCD: It is our military that allows Europe the luxury of having only a token military.
