Bottled Note

daisiesnfld: Bottled Note
.
It was but for a short sweet time
I lingered in love's golden sun
And basked there unashamedly
My past behind me, the race I'd won
.
Or so I'd thought until one day
Once I'd believed every word
Endearing, loving words you had said
Spoken never again to be heard
.
As easily as they came they left
Like shadows in the night
That disappear when morning's near
Not a remnant left in sight
.
As though disappearing ink were used
Love letters upon one's heart
Once written to ignite, dried all night
Evaporated, love did depart
.
Kissed in one's hand, then blown away
Endless dunes built on the sand
Why they would drift, leave love short shrift
I do not understand
.
When waves roll up onto the shore
And my bottled note is thrown afar
And the tide carries it way out to sea
To find you wherever you are
.
Will it still be as damp with my tears
And will it still hold the lock of my hair
The tender kisses I blew so dear
Still be awaiting you in there
.
I wonder if you'll know it was I
That had sent it to you that way
When you find it walking this very beach
And realize what you lost that day
.

Dividends: This is a beautiful poem, Daisies. I’m so sorry you’ve had to endure the pain detailed in this entry.. sigh, and the violation of trust. It’s never easy to lose someone you thought would stay in your life.

daisiesnfld: Oh no no Dividends, this poetry has nothing to do with my own life. However, I do write poetry based on lives of others; family, friends, co-workers, etc. Many times even by request. Thanks for reading though and for your comment.
