beginnings

Seeking
what poems I can find
while dancing
between a thought
& an idea

Seeking
again
the image
of you there
lying beside me / the image
of your strong arms
shrouding my form
with grace …

with delicacy …

with beauty /

thoughtful
& sensual in the night …
letting love
flow through your
body like light /

letting your love
nourish /

letting your soul
inspire /

letting dreams
dance
as passion dances
inside you /

as lust
& desire /
as fantasy … & 'poem'

Naked, together
you & I /

Naked, in the candlelight /

Coming to terms
with a dance done only
in the night /

Coming to terms
with a balance we strike
between 'aloneness'
& together /

The beauty of flesh

The beauty of mind

The beauty of desire /

(pause)

I should go.

Seats
are beginning to fill
at the coffee shop
at the edge of the universe.

They don't mind
me sitting here over coffee
& writing
on napkins
when seats are empty … but when all is full,
& they are waiting
for my stool
at the counter
or my seat
in a booth
to seat someone standing
at the entrance … well, you understand /

I'm going to ask them
for a phone line now
so I can send
these words
before I leave.

They're awfully accommodating here
at the coffee shop
at the edge of the universe
