redhotheaded: No i meant we are sometimes forced to know nothing but our own reality. there is a certain point when we cant fully know anyone but ourselves, and even then how well do most people know themselves

LiptonCambell: She's talking about objective versus subjective reality...

Personally, I believe in objective reality- but can I prove it? Nope. I cannot prove anything outside of my own subjective perspective. I mean, I can confirm or disprove my observations with others, but I cannot prove that that, too, is part of the illusion I have made for myself

redhotheaded: yes that has alot to do with what I am speaking about. but i mean more than just sub and objective. To even know each others feelings, thoughts and actions. to know their drive. to feel their pain. Can two human beings or any beings fully connect with each other? I dont think we can. You can know someone for years but how much do you truly know them if we change everyday?

Insouciant FiLTH: Empathy means we can on certain matters. What do you mean fully by the word 'knowing'?

iamthebrain: Is your inner world (mind) an objective experience that is subjected to an experiences outside yourself, or is there no distinction between object and subject? Even if you think your experience is objective isn't it itself constantly changing moment to moment, from thought to thought emotion to emotion? I don't know if you can know someone, because as far as I know there is nothing experiencing reality. For example, anger arises and I act angry until it fades away and I act a different way. Was there a constant concousness that is always waiting to notice the arising of thoughts and emotions or is each thought and emotion the thought that is noticing itself? And if I did have this kind of soul that starts noticing things that arise within then how come experience is subjective when this thing noticing is objective? Unless there is no difference between subject and object, or a subjective
constantly changing experience is subject to a Subjective ever changing reality.

My point is, yes, I think it could be possible to know someones intentions on a momentary basis with enough wisdom, cause it seems like all the wisest people always know what people are up to at that moment during an interaction, plus as the guy says above we also have empathy.
