The Wisdom of Religion? (Page 7)

Blackshoes: near50ohoh How typical claim knowledge', when you're ignorant of what is and will be ..It is true', nothing is new under the sun.
ECCLESIASTES

1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

You claim you know God word ?
Romans 1::19-32
1:19. Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
1:20. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
1:21. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
1:22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
1:23. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
1:24. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
1:25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
1:26. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
1:27. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
1:28. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
1:29. Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
1:30. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
1:31. Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
1:32. Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things

You call me a bigot , intolerant and a thumper .
I'm sorry that you're words are ignorant of what is and will be
and you fell the need to insult as to control others due to your lack of truth.
It's interesting how you claim that I'm all these things', yet you also claim I pretend the world doesn't exist ....
The world will end soon enough and all the truth will be reveal too all on Judgement Day ..
Love is not love", if you watch your friends jump of a cliff", without saying a word of warning

Blackshoes: You're taking the word ignorant far too personal .No-one knows all things .You insult to gain favor of fools ', It;s your business not mine .I don't know you nor wish too .Yet: Jesus is My lord and Savior .If he's also your lord and savior .Then we are bother and sister .If you are not a follower of Jesus you have not the Holy Spirit and are not of God ..If this is too hard too believe", that's youre problem not mine

near50ohoh: you're right now, but that's not where you began. we each have to answer for ourselves. and if you recall i suggested at first be careful who or what you call ignorant. but this is my largest, longest and strongest point i'm making. this is not your church or your forum yet you have felt quite comfortable taking it over. it was my understanding this was meant to be an interfaith, many religions, open debate, an intellectual exercise and communion of philosophies. for reconciliation. that's all i would like to do from here on in and i hope you will show us that spirit too. can you?

Zanjan: I like this one:

1:19. "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them."

The reason we each see God differently is because, as indiviuals, we're only able to understand the goodness and virtue that lies within our own soul. We know ourselves best, knowing what we possess.

Although we may see the goodness in other souls, if we don't really understand the wisdom behind their virtue, that same virtue isn't in us. We're not likely to trust what we don't know so will naturally fall back into the familiar.

For this reason, we also know our own limitations - that doesn't mean we have to settle. You cant change the future by clinging to the past. Everyone has been in formed, time and again, that anyone can acquire a new virtue. The informers are those who've done it, if only by one virtue.

I've been a 'collector' of virtues for so long, I can usually recognize, from a person's appearance alone, what religion they belong to if they're a **sincere** devotee - it shows on their face. Seriously, aside from one's deportment, there are physical traits to go with it, just as there are with 'darkened' souls who reject all things God.

This is so obviously the case, Transcendental Mediation ran with that ball in the 60's. 'See the ball, be the ball' meant that if you can see it, you can conform to it; then you can become it and everyone will know it.

This isn't about which religion you are and how much you know about it - this is about what can facilitate the acquisition of divine attributes. The first among all tools is education, and that's what religion does; regardless of the grade or simplicity, there's always something new to learn.

Zanjan: Knowledge is like water - it runs downhill, finding its own level. If you've found you can trust a person, you can also trust where their knowledge came from.

My knowledge didn't come from priests, but I've borrowed their memories from time to time.

One of my most important epiphanies came while I was in a hospital bed, sharing my room with a middle-aged traditional Hindu lady. She loved talking things spiritual.....it was the right time because we were both in poor medical health after major surgery. In moments, I recognized the kindness in her soul, her long years of experience, and love for wisdom. She gave me this gift of a simple observation from her religious tradition:

When we're born into this world, we've suddenly lost what we've had. Our eyes are shut tight as we cry, our hands grab then our fists close tightly....and we're like this all our lives, seeking to cling. But when we are dying, we're relaxed and accepting; our hands open gracefully, our eyes open wide as we take our final breath. At death, our face is at peace. The whole lesson in this life on earth is learning to let go.

"The Light"

The light is energy, chi, kundalini. Sexual abstinence increases the amount of light or energy or chi or kundalini. Many religions endorse "FASTING",this also elevates energy levels to attain a higher state of consciousness(Quickened Spirit, eg.the quick and the dead).

It is all very real. The chakras, the aura.

I have found that if you study several religions you will find that they have many things in common and it helps to give an overall understanding.

Religion has definitely been abused for power, money, land, and mind control. In many cases it appears to be little more than racism or nationalism.I feel that it is the responsibility of each person to"think for themselves";for us to use our own judgement and not to follow blindly.

Zanjan: Yes, and that requires *independent* investigation of truth.

I recall many years ago, someone suggested I go to this book store if I wanted to get a more expansive view of religion. After perusing a few books, all I could find on other religions was books by Christian authors slagging other religions, pointing out how stupid and wrong they were - they did this to make a claim that Christianity trumps them all. I was disgusted and walked out of that hateful place.

From that day forward, I vowed to work hard on eliminating prejudices and ignorance. Thanks be to God, there were others of same mind in all religions so we worked together in a co-operative campaign of public education; thus, Multi-Faith was born - we coined that word :

We were the first who realized it was time to build a bridge between these cultures, to meet on that bridge and say 'Hello' so we can enjoy each other's company.

I can happily report no stores like the one described exist anymore. Light shines on even the darkest of hearts and illumines them until they warm up enough they can reflect some light of their own accord.

I see so much progress in this regard made in the last thirty years, I don't know how anyone couldn't see that God has opened the floodgates of knowledge in our time - the spiritual Sun of Reality has risen. This is no small gift to humanity.

near50ohoh: maybe there's a difference in cdn and usa culture. the bigger cities do have some world culture not only in religion but arts too. ive found though we literally have back waters though. places so small minded they only have a euro/ christian area. that is so frustrating to me. i have several things i follow and i cant travel. so if i dont live in big places boy do i miss out. but then again other people find me and in a really small place, we band together and form a support group, like a multifaith prayer group. that was awesome!! i miss that.
