10 commandments Geoff: OK, ignoring the religious overtones and trying to stick to philosophy, if you had the chance to dictate 10 guidelines to life to a burgeoning civilisation, what would they be? Try to keep them (and any explanation you feel they require) succinct, simple, and clear. SpringRose: That s quiet a difficult question, very chalenging,i have to think about it,and post tomorow.good 1 Geoff!!! m0xie: I was rather inclined to agree with Karma...but I'm not sure what to do about people who purposely harm themselves. Morsy: not commit yourself to one ideal care for fellow humans have the foresight to agree to disagree not harm, injure or in any way abuse a child not willing inflict pain on an animal treat all others as equals and vice versa not be a bigot nor racist be charitable and compassionate to the less fortunate avoid the seven deadly sins care and protect the earth from the top of my head edit: go rid of the thou shalt stuff lol LiptonCambell: I think "treat others the way you wish to be treated" is number one on my list, followed by "No Fat Chicks" Malobear: Click on my name and you will see the answer in my profile. Its been there since day one of me being here. assalty: for this burgeoisy life I must take the revolutionary manifest with more than 10 commandments from 1848 ,from french influence ...I will recall one-civil liberty. nellie77: Ok i'm not going to list beacuese most of u said the right things here, but, i would be a hypocrite if i said i followed them to a T. For example treat others how you would want to be treated. Well after a while i dont want to treat all the same cause they don't deserve it cause they r not nice people. Do not lie, well sometimes a white lie here and there helps you get by to survive. Don't mean to ruin your thread Mr geoff Geoff: You're not ruining anything. That simple rules can not be universally applied is, IMO, a very valuable contribution to the collective thoughts going on here. It IS difficult to apply rules encouraging kindness towards those who have no intention of returning the favour. nellie77: Thanks Geoff, i can only be honest, Things i believe in sometimes just don't apply in everyday situations. One thing comes to mind is "live life be free, be kind, be me" Sevon: Personal ownership would be obsolete... afterall the planet belongs to all humanity but we seem inclined to act otherwise. if we start with the small things first maybe it will dawn on us to take care of EVERYTHING as though it were never really ours to start with ... LiptonCambell: Lol what? If there is no ownership, that means I can go into your bedroom while you're having s^~, and you'd have no right to tell me to leave? That'd certainly help the pornography industry.... LiptonCambell: I disagree. You can plant a farm to feed your family- but after spending months developing the crop and harvesting it, anyone can walk into your barn and take all your food. Why the hell would I bother growing food for my family, when I can rather just go house to house, taking their food, until everyone starves? You call this justice? You think we should hope for such a world? Sevon: yes because the same crop would be ttended by all who desired to see its fruit... think outside the selfish nature Comrade_: I don't think it's selfish nature, it's the reality of it.
