Are we responsible for what we fail to prevent? (Page 2)

Comrade_: If the scenario was to be altered a bit. A person who is aware a child/woman is being abused: physically or sexually, yet that person keeps silent and fail to take the steps to prevent more harm to the child or the woman. Would you not consider it a failure to perform a type of unwritten/unspoken code in human behaviour? I think that we do have a duty to stop things as these, if it is in our capability to do it. The 'stop' mightn't be a big thing, might be simply to notify someone who can/will or even notifying the parent of the child.
