What's so hard about being a housewife?
Sir Loin: I often hear about how keeping house for a spouse is just as tough as them going out to work every day.
What a load of bollocks!
I am a house husband while my wife goes to nursing school, the plan being she will graduate soon and support us both. This is the easiest job I've ever had!
It is now 1135 on a weekday and all the housework is finished. Floors cleaned, bed made, laundry hanging on the line, dinner is prepared and just needs turning on to be cooked when she gets home.
Usually I am finished by 10am but today I mixed concrete for an hour as part of our garage I'm building and mowed the neighbour's lawns for her.
OK, these days I don't have kids at home but I did have 7 years as a single Dad to 3 small kids. 2 of those years confined to a wheelchair. At the same time I had a full time job.
Being a parent is also easy work although much easier if there's 2 of you to share the load. I still managed to keep a clean tidy home just by doing housework from 9am to 3pm (school hours).
With automatic appliances to do most housework it has become a breeze so why do many women complain that their husbands have it easy by going to work every day?
This will probably be a tad controversial so I'd like to see some housewives comments.
Goddess Of Shadows: Well i was a single parent mostly to my exs daughter when hed choose to come see us hed chill in a chair saying can she be quiet i just got off work. Id say lol i had for a week shes not old enough for school. i take her to wirk with me and bring her home with me. Hed say yeah but your a woman. lol
Sir Loin: WW thanks but not really. I just love and respect my wife, she's achieving wonderful results at school and will be a great nurse.
What I'm getting at here is a marriage is a partnership where both of us work towards a common goal. Each of us has strengths to compliment the others weaknesses.
Sir Loin: Goddess, yes sometimes I do feel overwhelmed, not by the lifestyle I have chosen but by my wife's generosity and caring nature. She is showing her love in wanting to provide for me in my retirement which she wants me to take early because I have a brain tumour.
Sir Loin: Thanks Teresa I'm fine now the tumour's benign and just gives me headaches. Being a housewife is still the easiest job in the world!
Sir Loin: when I was a single Dad, I had 1 child in school and 2 at home, life was easier with them at home. Kids are no trouble if they respect their parents, in fact are a big help in the home. Oh, except for teenage girls and their hormonal tantrums
Sir Loin: youngest daughter broke her bedroom door slamming it at 13, never had problems of her playing Mum off against me. Her Mum was a baby basher so she didn't stay with Mum
Goddess Of Shadows: lol same her dad only got in the middle once she was 7 and wanted to go swimming but i had to work for the suicide help line. So i told her we could go tomorrow when we coukd also stop for ice cream on the way home
Goddess Of Shadows: i took the next day but she told her dad i hadnt take her. i asked her when she went swimming last and she said the day after i asked that was the last time he listened but i think it was just easier for him to let me parent
Sir Loin: My ex also found it easier to let me parent once she realised the harm she'd done our kids, especially the youngest daughter who has brain damage from the beatings her Mum gave her. Social workers tried to force the kids to go with her but my daughter turned around one day and beat her mother up, she couldn't take the abuse any more. The boys refused to help Mum saying she deserved it. After that I had to collect them and they refused to go back.
I had constant harassment from the social workers threatening to take the kids away but managed to keep them. A good lawyer and supportive family help!
tattyteresa01: lol my ex was a binge drinker and abusive fayther ,verbally ,emotional ,and physically ,,when theres nothing good to say about someone ,its better to remain silent ,thats what i am doing
Sir Loin: Good on you. Despite what my ex did to the kids I've been careful to only say positive things about her. The kids know the truth, they lived it so no need for me to mention it
