longpigchef: Why does everyone list their age as 118 in here? It's a reoccurring trend that is shared by seemingly unconnected users... Any insight?
Happy Go Lucky lass: hmm thats a good question myb there a lil sensative sharing there real age.... giving out information..
AretoNyx: I was thinking that too Happy. Though one never really knows when it comes to catching either.
I do not think wire is a good place for teens.
Most social media has issues though with info being given to third parties.
So if people are sensitive about hiding info they should realize at least the owners of the sites have such at least.
AretoNyx: That "name/ age / location" thing has been around since chat rooms have been it seems. Though one does not have to give details. One can always just be general. Besides if posted else where online likely it is easily to find.
My info is often vague enough that not much of anything is gotten from such.
Also all the perverts for kids I can understand if a teen is not open to answer such. I found chat rooms quite boring as a kid especially.
AretoNyx: Reason for asking age often has to do with what one can discuss. I can see if one wants to date in a dating chat room where such questions are relevant. Also where dating sites would have such.
There have been successful marriages from online dating , but it does not seem common.
AretoNyx: People scam any how regardless. Especially phone calls to phish info. Then there is the big woowoo conartists and charlatans. Some on infomercials, and in ads with reputable magazines or newspapers. There is more than one way to scam and including through deep/ dark net and hacking involved. It is not just from common name, age, and vague known country alone.
AretoNyx: Sounds like some conspiracy, unless in some spam email, to think when a person uses " wow" or " awesome" is a automatically a scammer. No need for paranoia. Just understand if they ask for details and will not stop even when asked they are likely up to no good. It isn't some complex thing.
longpigchef: Lol. Well for the record I'm not necessarily asking anyones age, but it would be nice to be sure that I am speaking with an adult.
longpigchef: It's an angry bear, not unlike a koala bear, except the wait in the trees and drop on their unsuspecting prey.... Which is typically yuppy tourists.
