Is it all about money in order to be a good parent

jrwf1978
jrwf1978: My problem is I have been out of work for about three months and I am getting told constantly that I am not a good father because I don't have a job. But even though I sit with my two kids and one if my step kids and help them with their homework. I cook, clean and do laundry. But am I wrong or are they wrong for saying I am not a good father.. I know I have to get back to work and I am always looking. But nothing rt now is working out for me. I just need some advice on this or just someone to talk to

Aura:
The problem you are dealing with is not a matter of your parenting, it is a matter of sexism.
All the attention all the time is on how it hurts women. And it's true.
But it hurts men as well. And this is one of the ways it hurts.
If you were a woman you would right now not be dealing with 'bad parent' bullshit.

Keep involved with your kids, keep making sure they are fed, clean, entertained and schooled. And on the side keep looking for work.

Based on what you wrote, you are not doing a damned thing wrong.

DEEP_acheleg: the court system is full of prejudice and gender roles. if you are a bad parent for not working, then what of all the single parents on welfare? equality is, inherently, blind to such cultural biases. and any way you look at it, the benefit of the child should be the primary concern
