Should children have the right to refuse treatment in the following cases

King Karma
King Karma:

1.The Doctor is unsure of whats wrong with the child and it will take several more years of testing for various disorders with little success

2.The Disorder is creating more of a social problem but not one that cant be overcome by other means and not one that makes the child an immediate threat to themselves or others

3.The Doctor has had over 3 years to figure out if something was wrong with the child and had no clear conclusion

4.The treatment and tests for figuring out the disorder is more expensive, inconvenient, and painful and traumatic to the childs well-being, than the apparent disorder itself

5.Its been established that nothing will fix the problem even if the doctors are determined to keep trying

Under current law no child is allowed to determine their own medical treatment until the age of 18. Also if there are medical treatments a doctor wants even if the parent does not think its necessary the courts can legally take the child away for child abuse. This applys to all medical treatment even if its for minor issues like ADHD up to stuff which is severe like getting treatment like cancer. Since the law just states you must give children all needed medical treatment what is considered a needed treatment is determined by hospitals, doctors, and sometimes schools. Even if parents decide they would like to go a less invasive route with treatment for things not as severe. Now a lot of people will argue children should have 0 rights since they are incapable of making any at all informed decisions about anything before the age of 18 years old. So I am proposing a law which would give them rights in particular cases and only when they meet this criteria.

King Karma: That is the problem Kayla. It would be the children's decision, not the parents.
