PeaceyisTwisted: I personally prefer a stricter approach when a child is addicted to drugs or alcohol. Seek treatment first. Something comprehensive that includes therapy and cognitive learning.. not just detox.
My speciality was in smaller children.. i.e. 'fix it before it gets that bad', so I am sorry if this is not more helpful. The child should be removed from their negative influences (dealers, friends who party), and rewarded with Healthy alternatives to drug abuse, like reading, writing, music, rollerskating, bowling, you-name-it. nursingangel: I have a 13yr old that is not completely on the maturity level of a 13yr old. He is a very sweet kid doing great in school, but does not seem to have any particular interests in like sports or much else. I would love to find his passion. The things he does enjoy are reading, swimming, and PLAYING all the time!!!!! Sometimes he plays to the point where most other kids are aggravated with him. He just does not seem to want to put much effort into anything physical. He is just a different kid. Let me know if you need more info.... thanks
