Fear Mongering

ColonelKusanagi
ColonelKusanagi: Yes children go missing, yes it is tragic. Not denying that, so do adults. What i just saw on the "news" a giant uncomfortable blue watch "that can't be removed without a special key" Guess a rubber watch band can't be cut by a scissor huh? watching the mainstream media you'd think that there is nothing for children to do but go missing or get murdered. What happened to the world? Turns up these occurrences aren't nearly as common as these broadcasts would lead you to believe. Not saying don't be vigilant, just saying not to literally buy into idiocy.

Leon35: Hey there, I agree with you . We were talking about this the other day. With the Casy Anthony trail and all. I think the media over does it. Make a big deal of reporting missing kids. Like it did not happen before. It happens all the time, We just didn't know it because news was not what it is now. I feel for those parents but most times, I think, it is their fault. Kids are nor raised. They are intertained with toys and amusement parks. Makes kids demanding and disobeyance.

introspec: Col. and Leon, Glad you posted on this subject.

The media appears to be whipping the 15 second attention spanners into a blood frenzy. Market share. Sell advertising....

The Anthony tragedy is terrible. But, a reasoning and thoughtful jury (I think) could not convict with shallow evidence. Now the professional "off with their heads" jerks are predicting (encouraging) populace to cancel with prejudice the jury.

Sheeeeeesh......................

ColonelKusanagi: Oddly enough this wasn't inspired by the Anthony fiasco, it's Levi that got them on selling useless gadgets to paranoid parents.

Leon35: Right Colonel, I was sayin I agree that parents have become lax with discipline and over earger to give kids what they want, when they want it, no strings attach. They walk around with $200 iPods and $300 iPhones and drive nice cars. Parents need to take control of their kids and raise them as productive citizens.

We have allowed that cheating and lying is ok and integrity, hoesty and hard work are things of the past, with our failure to hold teachers and politians accountable.

Your good point was, missing children relatively infrequent, and commercial blue wrist bands sort of, well, ridiculous...

Gothika_Kitt: I agree to a point with what you are all saying, but I can't help but think that It's better to have those parents who will stop at no cost to help themselves and thier children feel safer, regardless of how silly the item in question maybe, than those parents out there who leave their toddlers running the streets alone. Its sad, but it's a reality. Just saying vigilence is better than ignorance.

ColonelKusanagi: again i will point the invention of this thing called a scissor. Yes people can do whatever they like to feel more safe, but things that clearly do not work should not be sold, any comfort they might feel could lead to an even more lax situation. "my kid is double safe i don't need to watch him" Not all kids have every amenity and their money would be better spent on food not an electronic mindless babysitter.

Hyenablood: the reason for a teacher (parent) is to teach the kid so that one day the kid will not need the teacher, although parents are always going to be there. For the child to one day be a independant adult.
