- Moderator Requirements For Anyone Applying To Become A Wireclub Moderator -

RUBYRUBY (Wireclub Moderator)
RUBY: All applicants must submit an application to our Head Moderator, ruby

- A message from RUBY to all applicants -

"Guys If you are truly interested in Volunteering your time to the community and become a Moderator then just inbox me a paragraph or so of your reasons and motivations .

Just be cognisant of the fact that Moderator positions are limited , Compared to the number of people interested in the position , so places are not readily available . All I can guarantee is you will be given a fair consideration . for your suitability ,

Given the numbers interested in the position there is a high chance of disappointment in not getting the Chat Privilege , That is not a reflection of you being unsuitable its more a reflection on the places being limited .

I am always looking out for potentially suitable users . So Just send me a message and ill be able to put you on the waiting list of those who are interested , Should a position open up or I decide to add new Mod's. I'll be able to give you due consideration then ,

Just have some Patience don't be too eager or persistent . Let your reputation speak for its self .

Remember your background will be checked ,

If you are a serial trouble maker with a high number of flags and reports , it will count against you when being considered ,

If you have multiple accounts or are account farming for credits , you are likely to be over looked .

If you have a way above average number of people blocking you is an indication that you may not be suitable .

I also expect users to have an established account that is at least a year old it shows that you have the required acquaintance with the dynamics of the community ,

Given the level of responsibility , I am unable to consider users who are under 18"

Question details

1) As representatives of Wireclub, your actions will directly reflect on Wireclub and all members here. Moderation requires professionalism at all times and is one of the top requirements.

2) Moderators will be given confidential information from time to time and are expected to keep this information strictly confidential. Disclosure of sensitive information results in termination of mod status and privileges.

3) Many situations will require you to work within a group of other mods and staff members to resolve an issue or to make a decision that requires teamwork. Even the best moderators can't handle every situation on their own and sometimes must make choices based on input from others.

4) Each situation is different but all of those situations require a resolution to be made with choices that have all Wireclub member's best interests taken into account.

5) You may be asked to do something or may be required to do something that you may not think is the right choice or even a good idea. You must be willing and ready to do these things without asking or knowing why they need to be done, and without hesitating to do them.

6) You may be given multiple tasks to handle and all of them need to be completed which can sometimes interfere with your personal schedule or social life even. You have to be able to manage the the tasks given in full.

7) Moderators on every website endure stressful situations on a daily basis and have to be able to mentally focus and complete tasks while not cracking under the pressure of stress. This is sometimes the most challenging aspect to being a moderator.

8) Can you remain as positive as humanly possible even during the most stressful situations and carry yourself in a manner that's respectable and dignified? It's human nature to become negative and give up hope in stressful or difficult times which all moderators face eventually. Those instincts must be controlled which require a lot of discipline.

9) Not everyone agrees on everything all the time and sometimes feelings can become an issue that generates conflict between user and mod. If a user says something that's offensive, mods must be able to not take the statements personally to the best of their ability and is expected to respond to every situation in a fair, unbiased manner regardless of personal feelings. If a user harasses a mod or is even passive aggressive towards one, the mod is instructed to either disable the chat or suspend the user based on the severity of the statements made but must never take the statements personally.

10) Zero-Tolerance is a policy that requires the same disciplinary action to be given regardless of who is involved in a dispute or any personal objections a moderator has. All parties that violate the rules and Terms of Service are given the same disciplinary action in order to be fair an unbiased.

11) You'll be required to help users as well as resolve disputes, often at the same time. You'll have to rely on your communication skill in order to succeed in resolving both situations and any other issue that may require it. Without good communication skill, users won't understand what you're trying to convey to them which should be clear, precise, and direct.

12) Moderators in Wireclub are helpful and supportive in nature which is the top requirement for becoming a moderator on this site. The ability to help people is something that all mods do long before they become moderators and is one major aspect taken into consideration when a user applies to become one. Wireclub places helpfulness among it's top priorities and is what makes our site special and unique. If you love to help people, you'll probably enjoy moderating in Wireclub, but if helping people is something that you object to or have difficulty with, moderating is not something you'd enjoy doing and may lead to conflict later on down the road. You may be required to help a user that you may dislike personally, could you still offer assistance to them if they needed it without any personal feelings getting in the way?

13) You may be given tasks that need to be done as soon as possible. It could be for various reasons but they require effort in most cases to be completed. Users also count on moderators in times of need when they are being excessively harassed and simply blocking the abusers hasn't stopped the abuse. You will be depended upon at all times to handle many issues like these and is a big aspect in moderation.

14) Good judgement comes with observation and experience among other things. Lots of issues moderators come across require a resolution to be made and must be one made in good judgement but without judging the people involved or their motives. People make mistakes from time to time and is something Wireclub recognizes and tries to help all users work through rather than judging them which only makes things worse and leads to the judged person being labeled as a bad person. Nobody is a bad person in Wireclub, people just make bad choices from time to time.

15) Your actions and performance as a moderator will often be criticized and even mocked no matter how good it is in reality as some users will question everything you do. You must also be able to recognize what needs to be improved if there is something that requires it as nobody is perfect and there's always room for improvement. Being able to take criticism or negative feedback while turning it into a positive thing is a great quality to have as a mod, and as a human being.

16) We all make mistakes and is unavoidable, it will happen eventually. You must be able to admit to these mistakes and apologize to those affected by it while accepting the outcome of your actions, even if it means termination of mod status. Denying accountability is a sign that a person isn't responsible enough to admit to their mistakes or responsible enough to become a moderator.

17) You will read a lot as a moderator, more than you can imagine. You have to be able to take statements made at face value and not infer that there is a double meaning to those statements. A lof of conflict can be generated by simple misunderstandings as interpreting a statement varies from person to person. Most statements that are made are often taken out of context so it's important to be able to take a statement at face value.

18) Moderators must be fair and unbiased at all times and must never be lenient on friends or unnecessarily strict with someone that may be personally disliked. Everyone deserves equal treatment regardless if the moderator likes them or not. All moderators are fair or they wouldn't be moderators for long.

19) These are special requirements from our administrator:

-You must have no adult content on your profile/blog.
-You must agree that all your messages will be recorded at all times - it is bye bye privacy.
-You must agree to behave at all times - that means never curse and never get into fights.
-You must agree to always be nice to the newcomers, even when they ask silly questions.
-You must agree to not protect your friends - if they misbehave you must take action!
-You must agree to never act on personal reasons
-Being a mod is not a job, you must still have fun while on Wireclub

20) Users that apply to become a mod are evaluated on all the things mentioned previously in addition to their history in Wireclub. If chosen as a good candidate, you may be granted room host privileges in a Wireclub public chatroom so you can gain the training and experience needed provided by one of the senior moderators. This is a great opportunity to show Wireclub what you can do while giving you a chance to see what moderation is really like and if it's something you really want to pursue or not. As a special test when sending in your application, at the very top please add your favorite fruit with the number of your display age multiplied by 2. (here's an example: Strawberry 66) This will verify that you have read this post and can follow directions given. Good luck!

CountDrunkula: I'm not a moderator anywhere...I wouldn't want to seem superior to all the idiots...excuse me, users...on the boards. Even lowly peons...excuse me, inexperienced users...deserve a good beating...excuse me, deserve the highest respect. That's why I never ask to be Board Lord...excuse me, Moderator - and I'm sure all the "morrons and loosers"...excuse me, regular visitors...will appreciate that.
