HOMELESS (Page 4) (Post deleted by islandgirl7700 ) (Post deleted by islandgirl7700 ) El Comandante: It's unfortunate but that happens. Families are not as close. Since you have internet access, you can check what social programmes your government provides until you get back on your feet or try applying for a job to make enough to rent an apartment or purchase a house. islandgirl7700: IM INVOLVED WITH A PROGRAM NOW BUT TRYING TO GET MY LIFE BACK TOGETHER IN TIME FRAME THEY WANT IS DIFFICULT El Comandante: I understand. Try your best and it'll work out. You'll be starting over but all you develop now noone can lay claim to it. All the best. chronology: It is that piece of paper. A marriage certificate generally gives women full protection when a partner dies. Even in progressive States, just living together even for ten years means nothing. This is most important when it comes to tenancy Rights and inheritance. Another important piece of paper is a Will. It may seem morbid, but a valid Will gives partners at least some protection. islandgirl7700: LIVING .. I ENDED UP BEING HIS CARE GIVER ....WE WERE ENGAGED.. BUT HE DID A FLIP FLOP ON THAT IDEA ... longpigchef: I think you have done everything you could for him in life. He certainly wouldn't agree with what is happening in his demise, but I'm believe that most people wouldn't agree with their own. What can you do to help yourself? What skills do you possess? How can you use that to better your situation? How can you use your knowledge to help others? Sandra1957: Some states do consider a person legally married after you live with them so many years. I don't know what that law is in your state. But If I were you I would find out. A lot of people die and do not have a will its called " “intestate". Usually in those circumstances the state determines who gets what. If you lived with him long enough you could possibly be considered his wife anyway. Usually when a person dies in that case the living spouse would get everything. Make some calls to the State etc. Lawyers, just to see where you stand. longpigchef: Common law marriage is no longer recognized in any state, I believe, unless it is considered tribal marriage to a person of verifiable native American descent. islandgirl7700: I'm out there doing every thing i can to help my self ... believe me you .. its just in last 6 months all hell has broke lose.. every time i seem to get one foot out..... i get pushed down again...ill spare you the details . and i thank you all for ur heart felt comments (Post deleted by islandgirl7700 ) | Off Topic Chat Room Similar Conversations |
