Outback, but not forgotten calybonos: Judging by the time stamp of the comments on my wall, I logged in a little too late. Too late to say goodbye to a friend who, although chose a different path to express himself and his views here than I, someone who I still considered a kindred spirit. I can't help but feel cheated. Cheated out of at least attempting to say a proper farewell to a Wireclub veteran. I suppose there is a powerful human compulsion to leave things tied up in neat little bundles. But every journey except your last has an open end. And any journey of value is above all a chapter in a personal odyssey. It's end is not so much a goal attained as another point in a continuing process. And the important thing at the end of a journey is to keep moving forward, refreshed, with as little pause as possible. To both the one moving on, as well as those staying behind. And so I will wish that crazy free bastard - or whatever the aussie slang is for someone who, like myself, walks his own path, unaffected by the status quo - smooth sailing, happy trails, and may the sun never set until you've found a camping spot for the night. Who knows? We may cross paths again just around the next bend. No_User_Name: I have but 3 originals left on my list now from when i first joined here. 1 has been MIA for a while now and if not for the other 2 id have nothing to keep me here. OBJ Geoff: Jack's had that one account for at least five years, he's never deleted it before (although he did take an extended hiatus). SITS left (without deleting) and, thus far, has not returned. lori100: Maybe Jack got banned....SITS left soon after they got strict on thread crapping, a few weeks later he deleted a pic on his wall...over a yr ago someone said they talked to him on the phone... Geoff: No, Jack posted a farewell blog explaining his reasons. There are (occasional) Wire members who are still in contact with SITS. Geoff: I will respect his privacy, if he wanted his reasons for leaving to be public, I am sure he would have posted them to a forum thread. chronology: Jack was one of those rare people you meet who actually care about people. Australia seems to produce a lot of people like that, John Pilger and the rest. They have a natural sympathy for life's under dogs. I never agreed with his take on subjects like Iraq, or Anarchism, but Jack's heart was in the right place. No_User_Name: Jack had a massive lottery win ...MASSIVE!!!! he has no time for Wire now Ohhh and I think he bought an Island, no internet there either. (Edited by No_User_Name) lori100: see...now that makes sense.....btw...who knew----John Lennon owned his own island---- - Dorinish Island in Clew Bay, County Mayo, Ireland The13th: outbackjack gone has he. I been to outback australia and stay in monastery for a few days ... but those are male ones ...I wonder where all the nuns stay. The13th: Come on Jack, you can tell us about that shooting in paramatta. Has paramatta been taken over by wog? For lack of a better word - wog is fine. LiptonCambell: Jack? Yea, he comes in spurts. Typically he comes, stirs up some shit, enjoys the show, people ignore him and he leaves. Rinse and repeat.
