I have never seen a model of the Landrover like the one used at the funeral. Like you say it is very plain.

chronology: Iran still tops the execution chart.

The USA average for death penalty execution is around 26 a year. But Iran, a country with around one third as many people as the USA clocks up around 260 state executions every year. And they are only the deaths that are officially known. Many more are said to take place by vigilante gangs in outlying towns.

Iran however insists the problem is not the country's draconian laws, it is criminals committing crimes. Iran also strongly object's to other countries interference as they see it, in their internal affairs.

The deaths are often grim spectacles of people hanged from cranes in public. They are also often for none capital offences such as being drunk or having sex with other people's wives, or being gay. Gays and lesbians face flogging and beating before being put to death by hanging.

But for Iranian Officials this harsh justice is no one else's business. People also have their fingers chopped off for petty theft. Again in public.

Even if not sentenced to death, time in Iranian prisons is claimed to be hard time indeed. Human Rights Groups accuse Iran of running inhuman prisons.

Again the response of Iran to this criticism is short and sweet, Human Rights Groups should mind their own business. They also accuse Human Rights Groups of twisting the facts about death penalty cases.

chronology: Suicide Girls from Philly.

Folk's in Philadelphia who knew Gia Carangie and Nancy Spongen most likely made the same comment when they heard the girls had died. 'It only surprised me they lived as long as they did' would be the most likely response from folks in Philly.

They say of Philly 'No City waves the Flag harder' and when it came to Gia and Nancy few women lived lives as fast as they did.

Copious amounts of drugs, avid sexual appetites, and a 'finger up to the world' point of view seems to sum up the two Philly girls. But for Punk Rock Fans, Nancy is their most talked of mystery.

It is always taken as a fact that Sid Vicious stabbed Nancy when he was in a drugged up stupor, but did he? Another mystery about Nancy's death is why she never tried to get help. After she was stabbed in the stomach she stumbled into the bathroom of her apartment, but it took her hours to bleed to death. Why did Nancy go and call for help?

For NYPD it was a open and shut case, Sid stabbed Nancy when he was blacked out on drugs. But Punk Rock Fans insist that anyone could have walked into the apartment where Nancy and Sid lived in the Chelsea and robbed the couple. Sid was bonked out on drug's, and Nancy may have told the thief to f*ck off. She wound up getting stabbed.

Who knows wireclubers? It does seem unlikely Sid stabbed Nancy. She was the first woman he ever had sex with and he was said to worship her. Nancy was a troubled woman, prone to vitriolic outbursts at people. Did she abuse some visitor who wanted sex with her while Sid was crashed out? And did the visitor stab her.?

Punk Rock Fans keep an open mind about the deaths. But they claim prejudice against their community has kept the mystery from being solved.

chronology: Adam Toledo shooting. Police body cam shows Toledo holding gun second's before before being shot.

The tragic shooting of Latino teenager Adam has prompted demonstration's in Chicago, but video has confirmed he was holding a handgun second's before being shot.

Police body cam footage clearly show's Adam holding a handgun second's before he was shot in Chicago. But the footage also shows that his hands were empty as he turned to face the arresting officer. CSI evidence is yet to be analysed as to whether video recording of the teenager is of a higher degree of night vision than human eyesight at the scene. In other words, the police officer may not have been aware Adam had ditched the handgun second's before the officer approached him.

It is not clear just what the incident in Chicago was prompted by. Adam is being described as a member of the Latino King's gang. The Gang traffics in drug's in Chicago. Most likely for some unknown reason Adam was with another man in the alley that night. He may simply have associated with Latino King's member's.

Again, this case is likely to come down to what the arresting officer actually saw at the scene, and how less clear his night vision was than his body cam night vision recorded.

chronology: This date in 1945 Mr Hitler make's his last known trip out of the Bunker in Berlin.

He was said to be in a state of deniel and shock at the circumstances in Berlin at the time. Soviet Communist forces could be seen positioning themselves around the City, and the City was under constant artillery bombardment.

After meeting and thanking young soldier's for their heroic defense of Germany he returned to his Bunker rooms.

It is still disputed if Mr Hitler died in the Bunker or if he escaped to Argentina as some claim. Around 50 German submarines were leaving Germany at the time, carrying Secret Cargo and German Officials who had no wish to stay in the country as the Allie's were taking over.

One theory is that Mr Hitler was drugged and taken along with Eva out of the Bunker and, still under heavy sedation was transported to Argentina. Despite his desire to die in the Bunker, he was forced into exile. Another story of him walking across rubble strewn ground, gun in his hand, firing at Red Army troops until he was shot down is also unlikely.

As one man observed, 'Hitler was the only leverage that escaped Nazi's had after the war. He was their guarantee of safety. Should the Russian's or Americans ever go after them, they could force Hitler to disclose all kinds of secrets the Allie's wanted kept secret'.

chronology: It is an odd subject. Some claim there is real proof of Mr Hitlers death in Berlin. But others say that proof is fake.
A coroner in England was asked what he thought of the story of Hitler dieing in the bunker. He said after reviewing the evidence 'based on what I have seen I could not issue a death certificate for Mr Hitler, there is no proof he died there'.

Israel was busy fighting for their lives after the war, Mr Hitler was not a priority. J Edgar Hoover was convinced Hitler survived, he issued a order for all FBI Agents to be on the lookout for him. Stalin was convinced Hitler was in the USA being kept in luxury and comfort by American admirers. Sir Winston Churchill had no further interest in Hitler after the war. Whether he was dead or alive was of no interest to Sir Winston. If Mr was alive and FDR was alive Mr Roosevelt would definitely had ordered a full scale search for Mr Hitler and put him on trial for war crimes and human rights abuses. But Mr Truman was all for keeping the allies of the West happy, he hated communism and wanted nothing that would threaten unity among the western allies like putting Mr Hitler on trial would have. Many German, French and Italian Military officers were still Nazi supporters. Putting Hitler on trial would have enraged those Nazi supporters who saw him as a hero. Mr Truman knew this, so he had no interest in finding Hitler even if he was alive.

Zanjan: The video is proof enough. Floyd was in dire distress. There were several other officers on the ground with Chauvin; how is it they couldn't just cuff him and put him in their car - 3 cops against one unarmed man? But they were doing nothing - they should have been charged with complicity in the murder.

Zanjan: The toxology reported a trace of drugs because they were "metabolized". Seems you didn't know this but even after a druggie has stopped using, traces of the drugs (without any effect) remain in the system for up to two years after quitting. Regardless of what drug it is, that's how long it takes to flush them. I know this first hand.

Floyd was alert and walking before he was taken down - whereas, a person who's had a drug overdose immediately collapses into unconsciousness - if George had been in this condition, they could have given him Naloxone.

Lastly, the autopsy reported he had died from oxygen starvation. As an asthmatic, I can tell you when you can't breathe, you turn blue pretty fast and you aren't able to draw on any strength, you can't even stand up. There's no way the cops could have missed that.

Floyd was not resisting....the cop had his knee on his neck, directly able to feel that he wasn't resisting so why keep it there?? Since when do police have the latitude to torture people?

Do you care why he was arrested? A clerk reported he'd passed a counterfeit bill - why assume George knew it was a counterfeit when most couldn't tell the difference? Cops can't arrest for a misdemeanor without a warrent; George would have known his rights. Clearly, the cops were the kind of guys who cause escalations.

So tell me, what kind of threat to the cops or anyone else was a man in handcuffs? If they were worried he'd run away, why not hobble him? I can only say a big "thank you" to the teenager who knew what was wrong - he got involved by filming the whole thing.

I say fire the other two cops and let them face trial for being an accessory to a crime.

chronology: Zan, honestly, you are putting the ducks in the row you want them. In the last hour two of the people who spoke to George, a Store Clerk and Officer Chauvin both commented 'he is acting like he is on something' . Drugs were found in his system, his girlfriend said he was a lifelong addict.
You say George never resisted arrest, are you joking or just yanking my chain? The man who was with George in the car they drove to the shops was asked by Officer Chauvin to sit in the Police car, he did. George was asked, asked around ten times, to please sit in the Police car, he refused every time. He then began a struggle to keep from being placed in the car.
The Officers were acting in good faith and in the Public Interest when they detained George. But you are correct that the arrest may not have been considered justified on consideration at the Police Station. So what? that happens every hour of the day 24/7 around the world. Being detained and taken to a station is only a part of being arrested. The staff at the Station make the decision to hold someone or not.

So far you have made no valid points at all Zan. Sadly George created that entire situation that ended his life.

By the way. George does sound like a nice Guy. But he also sounds like a total head case and drama queen. But Officer Chauvin should never be in the situation he is in now.

chronology: This date in 1945, Adolf Hitler is said to have decided to commit suicide rather than be captured by the Soviets who were advancing fast into the Berlin Area. But did he?

There are often stories told in California of how a man mysteriously died in San Francisco. On his death unknown people cleared out his home of all his belongings. This was in the 1890s. The man was said to be General George Armstrong Custer. Huh? General Custer was said to have died 30 year's before at the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
The story is almost certainly an Urban Myth, but any serious investigation into the death of General George Armstrong Custer will show that both his fate and the alleged Battle of the Little Big Horn are subject to endless debate by researchers who claim the Battle was a hoax to justify the invasion of the Black Hills and the control of the vast Gold Mines there.

Adolf Hitler is claimed by some to have escaped from his Bunker and lived out his days in secret in Latin America. There is no evidence either way to prove he did survive, or that he died in the Bunker. The only proof he died is supposed dental records which some dismiss as fake.

Who knows wireclubers? But there is twist to the story. Mr Hitler was a lifelong fan of the American Wild West. He even played Cowboy and Indian games at His Bavaria Mountain Command Bunker. Did Mr Hitler actually live out a fantasy of escaping like General Custer? It really is almost humourous to think of him playing cowboys and Indians on his estates in Argentina.

chronology: Mass suicide in Germany.

Unreported for decade's until the fall of Communist Russia, a chilling chapter in Germany's occurred around this time in 1945 in Eastern Germany. In some town's hundreds committed mass suicide as the Red Army approached their towne. Stories of rape, torture and barbaric Communist soldiers caused hundreds of people in one town alone to hang themselves, slash their wrists, drown themselves. It was a grim scene of mass death that Red Army soldiers discovered.

The death's of German civilians has always been blamed on Soviet Army soldiers who raped and abused German civilians in large numbers. But some observers point out the situation was complex.
The war for Russia on the Eastern Front had become a savage battle of often epic proportions. Soviet and German soldiers died in their tens of thousands in battle's. where they slaughtered each other down to the last man. But the Eastern Front also became a region also became a region of booby traps, IEDs, and Ambushes. Russian soldiers became filled with resentment at local German's. In some instances, German men would dress up as Red Army soldiers and gang rape women.

The result of all this trauma for many German's was just to kill themselves. Life was not worth living.

Communist East German Authorities kept the outrage against German civilians secret. They constantly focused on the Dresden Air Raid pointing to the'barbaric British and American Force's' . After the war however they were forced to admit Dresden had been wildly exaggerated in terms of death. And that tens of thousands of Eastern German's had committed suicide rather than be captured by the Red Army.

chronology: Yikes.

President Biden officially uses the term 'Genocide' to describe the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Armenian people during WW1 era evictions.

Washington DC has always been cautious in using the word 'genocide' or Holocaust when describing the deaths of Armenian people during deportations in the early years of the 20th century.
Diplomatic relations with Turkey were the main concern for avoiding such high pressure words. But there is also the fact that actual proof of any such genocide is very small and cannot be supported by modern investigations.

For Armenian Americans and other Armenian communities there has never been any doubt that there was a genocide of their people.

So what are the facts wireclubers? Well the bottom line is that tens of thousands of Armenian people did die during their forced removal from districts in Turkey, but Turkey has always took the position that such deaths are always seen during mass evictions. Around 500.000 Sudettenland Germans died after WW2 during their eviction from Czechoslovkia. Turkey stands firm that accusing Turkey of deliberate mass murder is not acceptable.

Armenian people base their belief in genocide on stories of mass murder that were being spoken of at the time of the deportation. But Turkey has always responded to these accusations as unsupported by any real evidence.

Turkish folks have hit the roof after the statement of Mr Biden describing the sad deaths of Armenian people after the WW1 expulsions as 'Genocide'.
While Armenian folks are celebrating the Presidents comments. It is clear to see why Lawmakers in the DC have always politely declined to become involved in the controversy. Turkish patriots are demanding a full and open debate into historical records of events in Turkey that led to the expulsion of Armenians, while Armenians are focusing on the expulsions and the deaths that resulted from the long journey out of Turkey to Syria.

In Washington Lawmakers are probably expecting their Email Accounts to be flooded on Monday with people supporting either side in the dispute. Older Americans who have listened to many disputes like this in the past probably say there are two sides to every story.
