chronology: War of the World's.
Well Tom Cruise had a dramatic battle with aliens as he and Dakota Fanning escaped New York City in the movie of Alien Invaders. But during the Covid lockdown people around the world are recording an almost parallel epidemic of Orbs seen in the sky, everywhere from Texas to Dublin Ireland to Belgium to Japan.
So what should we make of the huge number of sightings wirreclubbers.? Well let's start with the most obvious explanation. Balloons. A minority of report's possibly are balloons. Satellites? again, many night time report's of orbs possibly are satellites. Ball Lighting? Again some reports of ground level orbs possibly are just Ball Lighting sightings. Chinese Lanterns? Again, the practice of sending up Chinese lanterns account for a small number of report's. Flares? A tiny number of report's may be flares. Private drones? A number may be quadcopter type drones flown by private or Government people. Laser projections onto clouds? Again maybe a few fit such explanation.
These explanations and more do dismiss most orb UFO sightings, but there is still an upsurge recently in the numbers of bizarre incidents seen in the skies everywhere from the USA to South Africa. It is reasonable to assume that there is definitely unexplained phenomenon going on around the world. Experienced UFO buff's suspect all the new sightings are really diversions. While people are stood staring and videoing odd things in one part of the night sky, something is really going on on the other side of the sky.
chronology: America facing General Strike if Mr Trump refuses to accept Election result.
A General Strike in the United States would be illegal. Whether organised on National or State level. The most likely scenario would be first a State level General Strike, followed by a group of States joining a The General Strike, then a full on National General Strike.
And that raises the very real danger of Civil War in the United States. But it is not simply Mr Trump that is creating disgust among American's, it is the structure of the Election System which million's of American's are calling for a complete overhaul of.
They point out that Mr Trump came within 50000 votes of winning the last election despite receiving 7.000.000. fewer votes than Mr Biden.
Don't know wirreclubbers, a General Strike is a serious decision for Americans to take. It also risks a Civil War. Hopefully Mr Trump will accept the Election result and step down. And Congress can implement Inquiries into whether Elections do need modernization. Congress insists it is not out of touch with the American people, but while social media moves at instant speed, Official legislation and debate etc need time to be implemented.

Mr Holt vanished while swimming near to a Australian beach two days before. His body was never found and his death has been a subject of conspiracy theories ever since. chronology: Money can't buy me love.
Maybe not, but Sir Paul Macartney is now officially the richest rock star of all time. His personal wealth is 1200.000.000. Dollars.
People may have expected Elvis to be the richest of all time, but when he died, if he did die, some claim he hoaxed his death, Elvis was virtually broke.
Michael Jackson may have rivalled Sir Paul had he not been embroiled in legal disputes resulting from accusations by young former friends. The legal battles cost the 'Billy Jean' superstar tens of millions in legal fees and billions in lost income.
chronology: This date in 1984 The Summit Tunnel Fire in England.
The Summit Tunnel was quite the marvel of its age when built in the 19th century. It was an example of Britain's Industrial revolution, and an engendering feat when completed.
But in 1984 the old tunnel chalked up a record that almost destroyed it. A train derailed in the tunnel with a million litres of gasoline and exploded into flames. No one was killed, but the fire became the biggest ever underground industrial fire.
Despite the huge fire, the old tunnel was repaired and is still in service today.
chronology: No it ain't the end of the world.
Normally religious crackpots in America are grabbing headlines by telling their deluded followers that the world will end on a certain date. But in 2012 this date around the world world groups of people were convinced that the world would end December 21st 2012. Well we're all still here wireclubers. But there was real panic among a minority of folks back then.
They were basing their fear simply on the end of a Mayan astrological Callander.
chronology: Probably the most alarming results of End of the world predictions was in the USA in 1925.
Jehovahs Witness Watchtower paper predicted the end of the world a number of times. But in 1925 they said it would definitely happen. Thousands of followers of the church sold their homes and gave all their savings to the church and began living in cars at the side of the road.
But the world kept on turning. In Germany, followers of the church did the same, this led to the NSDAP virtually banning the church as a irresponsible organisation when they came to power.
chronology: Well done United States Government.
Well done to Lawmakers. Emergency Payments to assist Americans in difficulty during this economic crisis has been approved by Congress and cheques are on their way to Americans in need of help right now.
chronology: 2021 beginning of celebration over the next few years of Ireland independence centenary.
For many Americans the next few years will be times to celebrate the first 100 year's of Ireland's Independence. Especially for Americans with family tires to'Dear old Ireland' like Mr Biden.
Ireland has a more complex history than the struggle for freedom from Britain with a military campaign however. Curiously, Irish politicians actually controlled the British Government at the time of Ireland's Independence. Britain was locked in a deadlock between exact same numbers of Conservatives and Liberal MPs. It was the Irish MPs in Parliament who actually decided which Party could rule by giving them support.
Ireland had some shrewd and perceptive lawmakers, and wheeling and dealing gave Ireland it's freedom as much as the courage of patriot's.
The 'Four Port's' was a offer too tempting for Britain to refuse. The permission for Royal Navy ships to operate from Port's in Ireland after after independence soothed London's paranoid fears of being crushed from Ireland by a hostile Nation. So for decades after Ireland was independent, Great Britain still had warship's in the Irish Freestate Ports. These Ports were vital for England to control a vast sweep of Southern Atlantic shipping transporting food and supplies from North and South America in the event of war. The port's also gave clever lawmakers in Dublin real leverage in European politics.
But in 1938 Britain made a decision to leave the Port's. Irish historians today think London seriously blundered into that decision. Just over a year after leaving the port's in Ireland, WW2 broke out and England was forced to route it's food supplies from across the Atlantic via the Icelandic Shipping Lanes. This was costly in terms of extra fuel, and with no port's in southern Ireland, the Royal Navy struggled to respond to air and sea attacks on British vessels.
So why did Britain make such an mistake as leaving Irish Port's? Well most likely younger civil servants in London believed new technology like better Radios and Radar made the Irish Port's unecessary. Although the Old timers in the Royal Navy strongly objected to abandoning the safe haven of Ireland.
Seems like the old Sea Dog's in the Navy got it right, and the young blood's in the civil service got it wrong.
chronology: This date in 1984 Bernhard Goetz shoots 4 would be muggers on a New York City Train.
Americans were strongly divided over the actions of Bernhard. While the vast majority praised him as a courageous public hero, others considered him a 'dangerous psycho' who should be detained in a mental institution.
chronology: This date in 2010 'Dont ask don't tell' Law scrapped in the United States Military.
The Law had allowed Gay's to be not investigated as Gay, but had not legalized Gay Rights in the military.
The law permitting Gay's to serve in the military came into effect immediately following changes to the don't ask don't tell Law.
Despite changes to the Law, many Gay's insist some services, notably the Navy are still hostile to Gay Service member's. 'There are people out there (in the Navy) and it is clear they have got their own Agenda of not wanting Gay's in the Navy' said one Gay Service person.
Blackshoes: Criminal trial
The case was defended by Barry Slotnick and Mark M. Baker. Slotnick argued that Goetz's actions fell within the New York State's self-defense statute. Under Section 35.15, "A person may not use deadly physical force upon another person ... unless ... He reasonably believes that such other person is committing or attempting to commit [one of certain enumerated predicate offenses, including robbery]."
Goetz was tried before a Manhattan jury of 10 whites and 2 blacks, of whom 6 had been victims of street crime. He was acquitted of the attempted murder and first-degree assault charges and convicted of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree – carrying a loaded, unlicensed weapon in a public place. He was sentenced to six months in jail, one year's psychiatric treatment, five years' probation, 200 hours community service, and a $5,000 fine. An appellate court affirmed the conviction and changed the sentence to one year in jail without probation. The order of the appellate court was affirmed because the trial court had not erred in instructing the jury that, if it found the People had proved each of the elements of the crime beyond a reasonable doubt, it "must" find the defendant guilty. This was not a directed verdict. Goetz served eight months.
A month after the shootings, Cabey's lawyers William Kunstler and Ron Kuby filed a civil suit against Goetz. The civil case was tried in 1996, over eleven years later, in the Bronx, with race as the dominant theme. During jury selection, Kuby asked the mostly non-white prospective jurors whether they had ever been discriminated against. Goetz admitted to previous use of racial language and to smoking PCP-laced marijuana during the 1980s. Kuby portrayed Goetz as a racist aggressor; Goetz's defense was that when surrounded he reacted in fear of being again robbed and beaten. Newspaper columnist Jimmy Breslin testified that in a 1985 interview, Cabey denied his involvement in an attempted robbery, but said that Canty, Allen, and Ramseur intended to rob Goetz.
The jury found that Goetz had acted recklessly and had deliberately inflicted emotional distress on Cabey. Jurors stated that Goetz shooting Cabey twice was a key factor in their decision. The jury awarded Cabey $43 million – $18 million for pain and suffering and $25 million in punitive damages.
Goetz subsequently filed for bankruptcy, saying that legal expenses had left him almost penniless. A judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court ruled that the $43 million jury award could not be discharged by the bankruptcy. Asked in 2004 whether he was making payments on the judgment, Goetz responded "I don't think I've paid a penny on that", and referred any questions on the subject to his attorney.
chronology: Gibraltar, staying with Great Britain, but closer to the EU after Brexit.
In just a few days Great Britain will be gone from the EU. Out, away, not included at all.
This has created real problems for Ulster, and also resentment in Scotland and Wales who were impressed with European culture and Political savvy. But little Gibraltar also has problems. It is part of the UK and Great Britain will do virtually anything to keep it such, but like Scotland and Wales Gibraltar enjoys it association with Europe.
Spain has always wanted Gibraltar back under the Spanish flag, but for the people of Gibraltar, duty free status shopping, on line banking and gambling and other perks of being free from Spanish Law just make life fun as a micro territory.
So in a few days, folks in Gibraltar will make a few minor adjustments to their daily lives, but it will be life as usual.
chronology: Gibraltar still looks likely to be an ongoing feast for gambling businesses..
It was said to be around 15 year's ago when an owner of a number of betting shops in England noticed the advantages of very low taxes in Gibraltar. With the Internet becoming the primary venue for gambling businesses, he also realized that his business could operate just as well from Gibraltar, serving gambler's in England, and make huge profits from near zero taxes.
So after securing a business license to run a gambling venue in Gibraltar he relocated lock stock and barrel to the tip of Spain. The move made him a multi millionaire. After a few years other gambling businesses noticed his huge profits from low taxes while expanding their business in Britain. Soon Gibraltar was a world centre for gambling.
Gambling businesses are confident for the time being that the party will continue.
chronology: Rare Shark Fatality this year in California.
This year closes with a sad death of a surfer off the San Francisco Bay Coast. He was surfing in towards the beach when he was struck by a White Shark. California wild life expert's are going to some lengths to prevent revenge attacks on shark's currently living in the Bay by pointing out that the killer Shark is most likely a migrating visitor to the Bay Area cruising through the water's following seals. The juvenile sharks living locally had nothing to do with the attack. Usually dozens of sharks are killed in revenge killings after swimmers are bitten.
Only around 10 people have been been killed in California waters in recorded history. Some wildlife expert's are privately surprised there have not been more death's recently because of the recent fad of some paddle board enthusiasts of splashing out amongst sharks to take selfie cell phone pictures of themselves surrounded by sharks to send to friend's.
The surfer killed this year however was just enjoying his hobby of surfing the waves. A friend described how the shark reached up and grabbed him on his board.
chronology: A Reporter sees way more than he wanted.
In 1966 a newspaper reporter was watching a climbing team edging it's way up a treacherous side of the Eiger Mountain in Europe. One newspaper reporter decided to cover the attempt from the comfort of his hotel room facing the mountain. And a telescope gave him a up close view. But one day watching the climber's dotted on the side of the ice cliff he was stunned to see one mountaineer slowly tumble through the thousands of feet of drop from his position to crumple into the Valley below.
He seemed to spiral and roll through the air for ages, but I realize now it was just a few seconds. The climber was a young American attempting to overcome a treacherous route up the legendary Eiger Mountain. 60 people had died attempting to achieve the prize of success. But tragically the young American died trying.
Details given by the reporter helped guide recovery volunteers to the spot the body lay spread eagled in the snow.
For the rest of his life the reporter was haunted by the memory of the climber's silent fall all those thousands of feet.
chronology: Punches thrown in Dover.
Today frustration among Trucker's promoted clashes with Police Officers in Dover. Ironically, it was when driver's were told that they could begin positioning their trucks to go home that temper's were lost and clashes with Police began.

chronology: George Hodel, the Black Darhlia killer.
If LAPD ever had an Arch Enemy they would have publicly dragged into the Police Station, then the Black Darhlia murderer was that man. Officially LAPD never managed to bring justice to the sadistic killer, but today George Hodel, a prosperous LA Doctor, is said to be the man Los Angeles Detectives consider the mutderer.
But even today, Detectives in California say there is not enough evidence to convict him in Court.
Mr Hodel is a Detectives worst nightmare. He was connected to secret abortions in the Los Angeles district, which gave him opportunities to work secretly in killing Elizabeth Short. He also was deeply and secretly connected to Los Angeles power people. He arranged abortions for their daughters and treated their venerial diseases. All secretly. He had more secrets than a old Catholic priest.
But today, Detectives are said to be convinced he murdered Short. It is easy to see how he escaped capture. But why did he kill Elizabeth? She could have been the victim of a Snuff murder. Some Detectives would not put such a crime past Hodel.
So perhaps, somewhere in Los Angeles there is film of Elizabeth being murdered. And during the murder, the killer slowly turns face the camera. .............
chronology: Gia Carangi would have been 70 year's old next month.
Steven Frieds book Thing of Beauty paints a tragic picture of Gia. Gia, a 'working class kid from Philly' did seem to look out of place in the American Orgy of wealth in the 1980s. While vast stretches of American Industrial heartland became vacant run down slums, the top investment and elite folk's of Wall Street were making cash like no time in history..
It was into that hedonistic drug saturated sex fuelled world that the young Gia immersed herself.
While the 1960s had been the flower power era, the 1980s was naked hedonism, and bare knuckle capitalism. Gia seems a poster girl for the age. She came from a blue collar background, made a small fortune, then lost everything becoming a heroin addict and AIDS victim.
The strange thing about Gia's life story is she probably would do it all again if she could. 'Live fast die young' .

chronology: Airbrushed from history?
A caller to a Talkradio show described how he remembers being in New York City in the 1980s when Muslim Terrorists took over the World Trade Centre.
He insisted that this event really happened and that the gang who seized the World Trade Centre held the building hostage for 12 hours or so. But he claims that the event has been airbrushed out of history.
Don't know wirreclubbers, he may have just misheard a news story, or it may have been a mistaken News report. Maybe Terrorists did manage to grab control of the WTC for a day, who knows?
