chronology: If you visited the U.S.A. in 1959 you would notice millions of Americans in their gardens and yards whirling their hips and necks with a large plastic hoop. People would be laughing and shouting and whirling the hoops for ten or twenty minutes. This was the 'Hula Hoop Craze'.

Two California businessmen had been impressed by an Australian bamboo ring used for exercise. In 1958 the two Californians began manufacturing plastic rings and giving them away. In a few weeks America went wild about the Hula Hoop, and 25 million Hoops were sold in a few months, two years later 100.000.000. Hoops had been sold and crowds of people were gathering in Parks to 'Hula Hoop'.

Ah carefree times.

chronology: .Crime and Punishment'

Yikes, as if the Law was not harsh enough in the Dark Ages of Europe, even a convicted murderers remains were often treated harshly.

Witches carried on a brisk secret trade in the body parts of executed murderers. Bones and organs were often stolen from graves and used in all kinds of strange concoctions, but most prized of all was the skull. The skull was used by Witches to drink out of, and as a Alter ornament. during their strange rituals.

chronology: Teenage Girls laughing in a carefree way is one of life's most pleasant sights, but in 1962 in Tanganyika three girls began laughing in a school, and kept on laughing all day. As the days went by dozens more girls were laughing hysterically, and one of life's pleasant sights became bizarre. Eventually the teachers had enough and closed the school sending the laughing girls home. Whoops, people started laughing in the girls village, and laughing spread to other villages, soon 1000 people, mostly girls were laughing hysterically none stop.

The laughing became really embarrassing when flatulence began loudly accompanying the none stop laughter.

After about a month the none stop laughter died out.

chronology: 'The Kentucky Goat Man'. A 'man' reportedly half Goat and half human roams the dark corners of The Southern U.S. He is some times seen rummaging in Dumpsters for food, and even been claimed to break into homes and rape the occupants, men or women. The Goat Man has even been claimed to kill and eat all the Pets of some small towns.

Two real places at least seem linked to the Goat Man's Urban Myth. One was an lone Goat Farmer in Texas who was the subject of rumours that he was very 'close' indeed to his animals, so much so that a half Goat half Human was born as a result. Another was a Railroad Bridge in Kentucky where teenagers would dare each other to cross avoiding Locomotives, quite a few teenagers lost their gamble with the Locomotive and were killed as a result. The Goat man was often seen in the vicinity of the deaths.

If the Goat Man legend is nothing els, it is a good reason to take a long slow drive in the South and enjoy the delicious Southern Food and ask locals about the legend. And who knows, as you drive home in the spectacular Southern sunset, you may see a shadowy figure in the bushes near the Highway ...............

chronology: We have all seen Sci Fi Movies where the crew begin long Space Flights by slipping into deep sleep pods for suspended animation. But in reality we are as far away as ever from achieving 'suspended animation'.

While Bears can achieve six months of sleep every year with no harm, humans can never come near that long a duration of sleep. Another problem is that illnesses are not affected by such long sleeps, so if an illness begins when you start your space sleep, it will likely kill you before the end of your space flight hibernation.

NASA are pinning their hopes on small Pods where Astronauts can sleep for a few days. The image of all Ski Fi Movies where Astronauts sleep on their backs in a cold environment is almost certainly wrong. Future sleeping Pods will be more like small closets where sleeping Astronauts can move about in their sleep like normal sleeping people, such movement is vital for health reasons.

Another disappointment is that long Space sleeps will not mean you live longer, even an Astronaut who could manage long months of sleep would live no longer than a person on earth, or awake in the Space ship.

chronology: When you think of secret villages of 'Little People' images of Ireland come to mind and Leprechauns. But the secret villages of small people are said to be in America the land of social experiments.
It seems Dwarfs began living in small communes across America around the 1930s. The Dwarfs do not welcome visitors and like to keep themselves to themselves. California is said to have had the first 'Little People' Town when retired Dwarf Actors settled in a deserted Town together.

Again, don't go looking for the Dwarf Towns, they are said not to like visitors.

chronology: Westall Australia 1966. According to Conspiracy Theorists Australia is like Antarctica, all kinds of Top Secret Aircraft and Space Craft can be tested there and no one would see them, because of the wide open sparsely populated landscape. If a Top Secret Plane was being tested in 1966 in Australia then something went really wrong with all this secrecy, over 200 witnesses saw the Silver Disc Object land in broad daylight next to a school. After being on the ground for a few minutes the Disc returned to the skies and flew away.

As the Craft flew out of sight 5 small aircraft flew around it. Australian Authorities, Military and Civilian in the District say they know nothing about the Craft or the small planes flying around it.

The Craft was a classic U.F.O. shaped aircraft that would later be seen around the world accompanied by men in space suites.

If any Wireclubbers plan a visit to Australia to try and find any Alien Bases, best of luck, there is an endless vast Island to search, and stay away from the 'slots' machines.

chronology: 'Clouds on the Moon'. When NASA first discovered what looks like 'clouds' on the Moon they were at a loss to explain how the vacuum Moon surface could have clouds, which were first noted by Luna Landers sent by NASA in the early 60s to the Moon. The American Apollo Space Craft however brought back more pictures which incidentally also showed faint clouds.
NASA Staff were at a loss to explain the faint wispy clouds reflecting the Lunar Horizon.

But the answer now seems to be at hand, the 'clouds' are dust clusters created by the Earths Magnetic stream that the Moon passes through for about 6 days every month. The earth has a 'Magnetic tail' much like a Comet tail that is invisible to astronomers, when the Moon passes through the Magnetic fields it becomes highly charged and the dust on it's surface can react like filings on paper to magnets, or hairs to static electricity. The dust soon settles back on the Moon surface till the next months pass.

Shucks, it was more fun to think of 'Greys' with Dune Buggies.

chronology: They call Australia the 'Lucky Country' and some Australians are very lucky indeed. Joe Herman was returning back to his Air Base in England one night after flying a mission over Germany in 1944 when his aircraft was hit by Anti Aircraft fire. His Crew were bailing out and Joe was just reaching for his parachute when his aircraft exploded and fell apart before Joe could reach his parachute. Joe found himself tumbling through the cold night air thousands of feet above the ground with no parachute in the darkness. Instinctively he reached out for what seemed aircraft debris falling with him, but it turned out to be the leg of a fellow flyer who had not yet deployed his parachute. Joe had even more luck, the fellow flyers parachute deployed slowly enabling Joe to keep his grip on his comrades leg. Both men landed safely, and lived to tell the tale.

As Australians would say; 'that was Joe's 'lucky day'.

chronology: EVPs. The Rev Bill Schnoebelen has a stern warning for young Americans not to become interested in the Supernatural, like EVPs; 'I don't believe all this 'haunted house' and ghost stuff. What is really going on is that Demons are just baiting their hooks with these ghost places trying to get people to communicate with them, Ouja Boards and Tarrot Cards and Seances. is what all these activities lead to, It all starts with some harmless looking activity like visiting a haunted house'.

Or maybe it starts with an interest in EVPs if Rev Schoebelen is right. EVPs have been heard as long as people have been using Radio Communications. Edison believed people would use radio to talk to the dead, soon people believed the dead were doing just that with EVP.

EVPs are usually random jiberish words that appear among other radio or tape recordings. Frederich Jurgenson was walking in the Swedish Alps in 1959 and is credited with recording the first 'dead Guys on tape' in that case it was his mother whose supposed voice said 'some one is following you'. Jurgenson was impressed and went on to spend years recording more voices of supposed dead people.

There are definitely voices being recorded most of the time, but what they are saying is unconnected with the people or place in which they are recorded. This leads sceptics to suspect EVPs are nothing but random radio communications being briefly recorded. 'Ionospheric Ducting' is the suspected carrier of the random words. I.D. can send or allow even weak signals to travel thousands of miles, CB Radio buffs call these I.D.s 'Skips' and have known about them for years. If for example a Movie Crew in California were using even small hand held radios to coordinate the shooting of a Movie scene, a snatch of their words could briefly be heard thousands of miles away by a Taxi Cab in Washington DC, the signal being propagated by I.D.

Bill Schnobelen reckons EVPs are evil spirits out to trap the unwary, sceptics say they are nothing but random radio anomalies and CB Radio folks dismiss them as 'Skips'.

chronology: George Washington a 'Drug Dealer'? huh? It seems Mr Washington, one of America's most esteemed citizens was a grower of Marijuana. Patriotic American's have always insisted Mr Washington was simply growing Hemp, for which there was numerous uses in the early U.S. But scholarly biographers of Mr Washington say he was definitely interested in cultivating the 'intoxifying qualities' of the plants he grew.

It is curious to think of the D.E.A. storming the great man's Plantation.

An alarming development in Americas Drug Abuse culture is the modern abuse of Heroin by Americans you would not normally suspect as prone to experiment with the drug, 'Hockey Moms', 'Middle Class Dad's. 'suburban school children. There also seems no easy to understand explanation why respectable people are turning to the drug. The U.S. Authorities probably suspect the so called 'Dark Web' as being the inveigler and ultimately the drug supplier to these respectable people who otherwise would never be even aware of the substance.

chronology: Accentrics make folks laugh, and England is said to be the true 'home of the accentric'. But even by England's standards Jack Mytton was odd. He kept over 2000 pet dogs and fed them on champagne and steaks, he also had 60 cats who he dressed in tailor made clothes. Jack had some dangerous habits tho. He would drive his carriage at high speed then swerve and deliberately crash the vehicle always injuring himself.

He was almost killed one time when he threw a dinner party. As invited guests sat Jack entered the room sat on the back of a huge Bear. There was total panic as guests jumped out of windows and ran from doorways. The Bear was startled by all the commotion and turned on Jack, savagely ripping flesh from his leg. Poor old Jack lived a few years after the fiasco, but he died in his 30s.

When Fire Fighters were searching the building after the blaze, they found some people burned into their slot machines, they had refused to leave. This behaviour of gamblers has been noted by many people. One Casino worker in Las Vegas described how smoke was billowing through a door as she began to exit from a room; 'the two ladies I was dealing cards to told me to just keep dealing, I said no way, I am out of here'. In another Casino Fire, Fire Fighters were smashing their way through doors with Fire Axes in the burning building. An eye witness described how 'half the people in the room just sat at the tables ignoring the fire'.

chronology: David John Oats began the craze for reverse speech study. According to David, when you record a sentence, and then play it backwards, hidden meanings are revealed with words or sentences being noticed from the sounds. The hidden meanings are often a little banal to say the least. Neil Armstrong's famous 'one small step' played backwards says 'Man will Spacewalk'. Americans will be creeped out by some reverse speech sentences. A reporter broadcasting live from Dealey Plaza had his words reversed, they said; 'He is shot bad, hold it, try and look up'. Creepy. Reverse speech is not created by the words spoken. Two people can read the same words and different sentences will be heard from the same words read. And guess what Wireclubbers, there is an App for reversing speech on your Cell Phone.

But let's face it, it is not the secrets hidden in historical speeches people are interested in, it is what teenage boys think of their most popular woman teachers, or teen girls think of the 'hottie' in their class.

chronology: There is the story of the boy who saw an Email explaining a simple way to make money. Just send 5 dollars to the person who sent him the Email and he could then send out two Emails for 5 dollar gifts making a 5 dollar profit. The boy went on to make 70.000 dollars profit. And it was all legal, said the Email. The money was sent in 5 dollar bills to his PO Box in his Town, Wow, he had so many letters, stuffed into his rucksack which he took on his bicycle to collect the heaps of cash sent to him each week. And the story is pure BS. First 'Chain Letters' are illegal in the U.S. second, the U.S. Postal Service does not deliver such mail.

And how many people fall for this Scam? millions around the world every year. The Nation of Albania collapsed in 2003 largely because of Chain Letter Scams that ripped off half the Population. In Ireland in 2007 numerous people lost 23.000 dollars each with a similar Scam.

So beware Wireclubbers, the Scammers are still out there, and if you live outside the U.S. the Scammers have a lot less restrictions on how they rip you off.

chronology: First we must set the scene Wireclubbers. Let us imagine we are in Pittsburgh, we are sat in one of the cosy Bars there that were made from converted old houses, very atmospheric. As we sip our Pittsburgh beer, we ask a local if the old Bar has any ghosts from when it was a old house. 'No' he says quietly 'but I can tell you the story of Pittsburgh's 'Congelier House'. We settle back in our chairs and he tells us the ghost story. Congeleir House was built by a Civil War Carpet Bagger Charles Congeleir. His wife found him in bed with a young girl and she murdered them both (here someone from Dixie sat nearby bursts out laughing). People who stayed in the building later claimed there were screams and other noises. A mad Doctor called Adolph Brunsrichter moved in and killed 5 women there. He vanished but a man claiming to be the Doctor was arrested in New York, drunk and rambling on about satanic orgies and sacrifices at the house. 'And that is the story of Pittsburgh's Congeleir House' finishes the local Chap draining the last of his beer.

Perhaps the next day we call into Pittsburgh's Public Library and check their records out of curiosity. Alas Wireclubbers (or perhaps thankfully) we find no evidence at all to support any of the subjects in the story, no sex mad Carpet Baggers with vengfull wives, no mad Doctors, no record of any women killed in 1129 Ridge Avenue Pittsburgh the address of Congeleir House. The story, which is still told as true across America, is an 'Urban Myth'.

chronology: 'Ghosts of NASA'. Being such a young Agency, you do not think of NASA as being associated with ghosts. Also, the Agency is one of the most high security in the world, so the only news you hear is what is allowed to be heard.

At Building 26 in the Goddard Space Flight Centre in Maryland, NASA staff who have worked late into the night, and security guards patrolling the area are said to have heard faint sounds of voices and drums and chanting at night. There is a story of how, when Building 26 was being constructed, bones were found in the construction digs of about 12 people. Presumably, the bones were Native American, hence the chanting and drums.

NASA facilities are often built on former Military Sites, so any hauntings would be linked to past residents of the buildings.

chronology: Heinrich Himmler sit's quietly at night at his desk working by the light of a Table Lamp. A smartly dressed SS Officer taps on his door then enters, he reads a brief secret message to Mr Himmler; 'The Eagle has Landed' he says, Mr Himmler looks up thoughtfully then nods to the Officer who leaves.

The scene is from Jack Higgins book 'The Eagle has Landed' about an attempt to kidnap Sir Winston Churchill by German Paratroopers in WW2. Many people are convinced the story is based on a true event, is there any proof to support their claim?

The short answer is 'no', none that we know of. The British Records Office however are notoriously secretive in their withholding of records from WW2, so there could well be some account of such a top secret German Mission.

There are no Official Records released for example of a German Paratrooper raid on a British Prison where Rudolph Hess was being held. But some historians have found what they are convinced are real accounts of the raid, which saw German Paratrooper storming the Prison section where Hess was held, presumably in an attempt to silence him, (execute him).

Norfolk seems to have become a solemn destination for some folks who are devotees of the Jack Higgins story, reverently searching for the brave German soldiers graves, and as yet, no one has reported finding any......................

chronology: Her Majesty in Wonderland'. There is a story still told around the world today of how Louis Carroll met Her Majesty Queen Victoria and was requested by the Queen to 'be sure and send Her his next book after 'Alice in Wonderland''. The Queen was said to have been delighted with the story. Carroll is said to have sent the Queen a book on Algebra, the Queen had no idea he was a Mathematician, true or false Wireclubbers?

The story is false, Carroll (real name Charles Dodgson) even refuted the story himself. But you will still hear this tale being told today.

Another anecdote told about Queen Victoria is that Her Majesty refused to sign Laws making lesbianism illegal in England. True or false Wireclubbers? This story is true. The Queen was reviewing Government Papers to be signed into Law when she read one paper describing Lesbian behaviour and practices. Her Majesty set the Paper aside among Laws she would not Pass. When asked why she would not consent to the Laws banning lesbians, Her Majesty looked mildly shocked and innocently replied 'women do not do things like that'.

chronology: The Last Confrontation between the U.S.A and the British Empire. Most American school children still thrill to hear the victories of the 1812 War, when Andrew Jackson commanded U.S. Troops against invading British Forces. Britain was forced to abandon New Orleans in 1815 and the Louisiana Territory thus became a secure part of the U.S.A.

But that was not the last 'War' between the two countries. The last war was in fact in 1859, and was (almost) fought over a Pig, yes a 'Pug', the name of the Pig is not recorded. The unfortunate Pig who belonged to an Irishman living in the British Section of the Pacific North West was in the habit of rummaging around in an American Farmers field on an Island farm. The American shot the Pig and when the Irishman discovered his Pig had been killed he complained to the British Administrators about his tragic loss. Groups of Americans and British (or to be precise, people living in the British sector) exchanged insults and stood in gangs arguing and threatening each other. The U.S. Army sent a number of soldiers to the District to keep order. British Administrators were unsettled by the movements of U.S. Troops and ordered Marines Landed to counter the American Military detachment.

There were tense moments as hundreds of American and British soldiers confronted each other, each side shouting insults at the other. British Administrators in the Region had ordered that no shots be fired by British soldiers other than in self defence, in Washington DC negotiators were sent to resolve the dispute.

What many U.S. schoolchildren may ask is 'did the Irishman get a new Pig'? Sorry kids, you will have to ask U.S. Park Service Rangers in the District today when you visit there. They are the experts on the local history, as Park Rangers are in many U.S. States.
