harlett anathema: RUBY....wasn't i the very 1st person too have that nifty edit button used on when the new Wire fired up... i didn't i have actually lobbied for it return...made mention that it existed before i realized that option disappeared... from running across being disrupted by stalkers purposely disrupting fun & lively open conversations.....

If I make a request to add a Friend, and that person has not accepted me yet, when I go to their profile, it should be clear that they are pending.. Just because there's no "Add Friend" 'button" doesn't mean they are a friend.

RUBY: it shows as pending on your friend list when they haven't accepted yet

harlett anathema: UMMMM..when i experienced the EDIT BUTTON.. it wasn't like deleting a post yourself or the BUTLER deleting it for you..that left a messing deleted notice. there was no tell tale sign a post was ever made...

Neanderthal Gangsta: Offline PMs.

Reason 1:
Sometimes you send someone a PM. And they are actually disconnected, but Wireclub won't tell you because they just got disconnected.

You type 4 paragraphs, and hit Enter. THEN it tells you it cannot send the PM because the person is offline.

AND, your entire essay is gone. It's not on the screen anywhere where you can copy / paste it to send in a message.

Reason 2:
Someone sends me a PM while I'm online. I have stepped away from the computer, so I do not see it. I realize I'm late for work, so I close the browser. Or, say the Browser crashes. I lost that PM forever. I don't know if someone sent me a PM or not. The person on the other end cannot tell if I'm ignoring them or not.

Ignoring is a common way to make people go away. Nine out of ten times, that's the method employed by women to make men go away.

Why multi-user PM is not the same as a chat room.

I am not suggesting that a multi-user PM is necessary. Usually if I want to do that, I'll just go use skype.

But someone else suggest that earlier in this thread, and the response was to use a chat room. There's a big difference between multi-user PM and chat room.

PMs are more private that chat rooms:

1. Anyone can enter your chat room. Usually they will be friends because they see the chat room listed. They are the last people you want to immediately block.

2. Even if they don't enter a chat room, anyone can view your chat room by going into the chat room while not logged on.

3. When you PM with someone, other people don't know you're in PM. When you're in a chat room, they know you're chatting. So you can't lie and say, "oh, I don't PM", when you actually do.

4. Mods cannot watch PMs. Mods can watch chat rooms.

5. The rules are different as to what is allowed in PM vs. chat room. Even a user created chat room, you cannot post links that are now allowed, such as facebook profile, or porn site. In a PM, it's either allowed or overlooked.

Today, I have to go to my friend list, and look that person up, to see if they are Pending. The Feature I'm requesting is that you will know immediately by looking at their profile or (mini-profile in a chat room). Where the "Add Friend" button goes, it could say "Friend Request Pending" or something else like that.

This one is esthetic. When first joined Wireclub, I was used to be in meebo chat rooms for years. My initial reaction was, "wow, you don't see as many lines of text in a chat room because there is so much more white space between lines.".

So although I think white-space between lines contributes to readability, I think we may have slightly too much. We should be able to reduce the white space by a small amount and get more text on the screen.

Neanderthal Gangsta: More responsive UI on an iPhone or iPad. Chat rooms and PMs don't work very well on an iPhone. It's usable, but clearly not optimally optimized for those form-factors.

what i meant by chatrooms is if you create it for friends only or private nobody can enter unless you invite them
and as for friend requests I agree with you...that's a good suggestion

Neanderthal Gangsta: Under Messages, where you have two options "See All Send" and "See All Received", it's confusing. When I want to recall a previous message, I rarely recall who initiated the message. The two lists should be combined.

I forgot about private chat rooms. That addresses some of the items.

Does it address all of them? Can mods enter? Am I still going to be told I cannot post a a link Google Search or Facebook or Tumblr or efukt?
