Debates, banter, e-fights.............. call it what you like.............. if kept under control.......... I see no problem with it/them.............. however sometimes suspensions are handed out for the wrong reasons............. as mods/admin only see what they wanna see..........

AnywayZ............ I've said enough............ I see another ban/suspension heading Stewart's way if I continue further................

Fruitbat1919: As a consumer of Wire. I believe there is some benefit behind having an area, where the topics are relaxed, as opposed to having people have to make judgements on specific topics and the OPs intent.

I for one like my topics to take a life of their own. I for one do not have any problems with those that come on my topics to 'ego stroke' or attempt to derail....that only makes them more interesting to myself.

I can see that this is not the case for all....how do people decide what is really ok? How do people decide what is really malicious intent to derail? Clear boundaries are a must, it is my belief. Rules are needed without doubt. But let us be honest, who here has not broken said rules at one time or another? I have seen sarcastic responses that have attempted to undermine from all that are currently on this conversation, at one time or another.

Stewart75: I agree with the essence of what you're saying Dave............. however Wire is open to the general viewing public.................. you don't have to be a member to see what goes on, right...?............ so unless this area you're on about is closed off to the general viewing public........ (which can very easily be done).............. I can't see your idea working............

Fruitbat1919: One of the reasons that I am so interested in having said area and clarification (and I have mentioned it many times), is due to how I love the nature of Wire. It is not stale, it has some life still left! Many sites do not.

I do believe that laws in many countries will soon place more responsibilities on site owners to 'protect' their consumers (which is what we essentially are). If this happens, then the rules will, I believe choke all the fun out of sites, as the management have to legally protect their own backs.

I am just hoping we, as adults can best influence management as to keeping the freedoms we have enjoyed for so long on Wire.

Fruitbat1919: I do understand your point Stew and a good point it is. I am not condoning any illegal or behaviour that would show Wire in bad light. I believe that healthy debating areas and areas that have slightly more freedom to express can co-exsist within a legal, social and business conducive framework.

Stewart75: You get no argument from me there, Dave.......... I loved the old Wire days....... things are far too soft now.............. though new Wire has allowed the kids in............ and they are obviously promoting the site to gain advertising revenue.................. like, who can blame them for that.............. if it was my site I wouldn't do much different...............

This segregated area you speak of would be fine by me.......... that's where I'd hang........... though I can't see it happening........................

Fruitbat1919: Yes I can understand the business model for allowing the kids in. Let us be honest. The kids were already here before! That said, the legal protection I mentioned, does make more obligations towards management now it has a duty of care to minors.

Legally, I believe they could cover their obligations and duty of care by having the area as over 18 only. Under 18 profiles could easily be barred from entering and minors that have lied to have a profile, by most laws, have sighed away their right to a duty of care.

RUBY: all this has nothing to do with minors
It's called respect of one another
it's not right for someone to go on forums and costantly offend others
sometimes for no reason at all but just to cause trouble

Fruitbat1919: No disagreement with you there Rubes. We are just exploring what I believe many would like to stay in place on Wire.

Do you think this needs a new topic? My belief is that this is very much related topic and pretty much impossible to discuss without addressing possible legal and business ramifications, to which Stew rightly points out.

xox G xox: Close Off Topic off to non members like the Dating forum was on old Wire, make it 18plus, have a relaxed attitude to thread/comments and see what comes........this has been suggested many times, so why not trial it.

If those here that get a little bent about sarcastic remarks, name calling, trolling, well then use ALL the other forum sections for civil conversations n to stay on topic.

No such word as 'can't' Mr ....it can be done, it can be closed off!

Admin can stick it down the bottom of the list instead of the top, put a nice fluffy forum section on top ...Animals would work

Fruitbat1919: There are ways Hanlon if some thought was put into workable solutions. We all know that either things will continue as they are, or changes will be made, either way, we can at least try to find a compromise that is legal, ethical and tries to maintain fun for all types that use Wire.

Online sites are small representations of the general populace. You can try all you like to make everyone behave in the same way....if you do though, you will lose the soul of this place and that which makes it interesting. Life is interesting because we have such variety. Let's use that in Wires favour and try to help make this a place that pushes the boundaries of what makes a successful online community.

I see an awful lot of moaning on here, but few trying to come up with any solutions. "This won't work...that won't work"....well I ask you all....what will work? Trying to get rid of what is such an entrenched part of human nature and either hide it away or pretend it does not exist......I do not believe that will ever work.

Its an easy fix really, close it off or kill it off.

Off Topic is Off Topic because of who are in it.

RUBY: I agree Dilly
what I don't agree or Rod agrees is the fact that when ever there's a topic a silly user has to bump in and make sarcastic comment such as what a dull thread or offend others or worse use they're pv stuff in forums
all that I don't tollerate at all
and let's not always blame Stewart for this
there's many users that do it
even ladies ...sure Stewart is noticed more cause he's the most hated but believe me there's many that do it
and all this has to be stopped
there's unfollow option don't like the topic? move on
no need to always offend or make stupid nonsence commants for every topic

The laws are the laws and Forum rules have been well discused everywhere. Forums are public places.

I think some posters don't understand that people are serious and the feel frightened when they see the force of someones idea.
