There is no single thread other than wackos who try to tie anything and everything together as some sort of Master Conspiracy Plan. The Illuminati have a plan to kill people so that they can ban guns. The Illuminati have a plan to kill people so that they can promote guns, or kill lizard people, or take over the world. The Aliens are working together with the Illuminati, or the Aliens ARE the Illuminati, or the Illuminati are Lizard people. Bush and Obama are Illuminati, Bush and Obama are evil and thwarting the Illuminati. It's is stupid on the face of it.

None of this crap even fits together. If these so-called Illuminati are trying to take over the world, then they are dumb as a box of rocks. If they take over the world, then no one can tell me what they are going to do with it.

Robot Seb: Imagine what our lives might be like had Orson Welles broadcast of "War of the Worlds" had a different outcome. What if the listeners knew it was a radio broadcast and the whole cloak of secrecy on things like UFOs and extra-terrestrials was never an issue? I think people are much smarter these days and we're able to know what's "hollywood" and what's real within a few seconds just by using our common sense. We've grown into a society that has learned to not believe instead of believing, and one that demands proof before we're willing to proceed any further.

OCD_OCD: I think "some" people are intelligent enough to know the difference between fact and fantasy, however these conspiracists apparently cannot fathom that Dan Brown's writings are works of fiction. Well written and thought-provoking fiction, but still fiction.

Robot Seb: wow that's a bit intriguing, are the facts from there cited from credible sources or just things the author gathered online? Lots of that stuff I had no clue about, although the part about you could get arrested in Virgina for refusing to grow a plant seems a bit far-fetched. The rest could be possible. Sailors used to cross the oceans with sails made of hemp, the sail rigging rope made of hemp, and even wore clothes made of hemp.

To break the stigma associated with marijuana, it is important to actually understand the difference between cannabis and hemp.

The two are related through the same genus of plant. While industrial-grade hemp is a rather helpful resource in the world, it lacks the stimulating power of the substance known as delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or for short, THC. It is this active chemical of THC that brings about the "high" associated with marijuana.

Hemp contains 1.5% of this substance, while marijuana possesses between 4 % and 20%. In Canada, the legal amount of THC used to create products cannot exceed 0.3%. Overall, the plants are rather close in details, but supply very different functions for many dissimilar reasons, which especially shows through in the physical makeup of the two plants.

Hemp is much stronger than the marijuana variety, meaning it holds the possibility to create a wealth of raw materials. Marijuana is actually quite delicate, eliminating it as a contender regarding serving a purpose to benefit mankind in a manner acceptable by law (with the exception of medicinal uses).

Farming practices also dictate the amount of THC produced by the plant. The unfertilized female species of cannabis sativa L contains the highest amount of THC, thus the male species is removed to prevent pollination, increasing it's psychoactive properties dramatically.

Robot Seb: Although I don't know the exact specifics on Hemp / Cannabis, I have to give credit to shows like these that do try to teach the public about the reality and misconceptions regarding it. I knew about the psychoactive ingredient THC but it wasn't until this show that I learned about CBD's, medicinal use, and applications they apply to. It's pretty fascinating.
