What Is "Generation Y" ? SnoValley: What Is "Generation Y" ? I've always wondered this myself... And Now I know ! People born before 1946 were called The Silent Generation. The Baby Boomers are those born between 1946 and 1959. Generation X people have been born between 1960 and 1979. Generation Y were born between 1980 and 2010 Why do we call the last group Generation Y? Y should I get a job ? Y should I leave home and find my own place ? Y should I get a car when I can borrow yours ? Y should I clean my room ? Y should I wash and iron my own clothes ? Y should I buy any food ?  Comrade_: Generation Y, the rebellious generation. Y should we have a dictator? Y are food prices so high? Y not make that new technology? Y not? Answered YOUr questions........WHY.?..........  Comrade_: Yes I'm aware of the US' political system but Generation Y extends to the rest of the world. Don't only look at the US. All rhetorical questions, meaning we've addressed social issues example the 'occupy protest'. We've dealt with political issues and dictators as 'the Arab spring'. Also improve on technology. Everywhere else had why did n,t you? I noticed the Govt paper(PDF) that went along with the announcement of the killing of badgers also failed to mention the Govt efforts to stop BSE by paying farmers for the distruction of their herds and instead laughably said there was an outbreak of foot in mouth in 2001.
