lavendar_star: please if jesus did exist he wasn't born on 25 of december, Christmas is originally taken from the pagan winter festival and the date from pagan gods before that.

@Stewart75 I understand that you're mentally ignorant of a few things in life but I'll excuse you this time since it's a common misunderstanding.
"X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ"...Take a moment to read the rest at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xmas so you'd not make a fool of yourself twice.

@Lavendar those are cool ones too, I like the older classics.

Wikipedia didn't make it up, it's understood by anyone (cept the few idiots) I choose Wikipedia as an easy source but since you want to go down that road with me and troll a holidays thread then we will .

http://ancienthistory.about.com/od/christianholidays/f/Xmas.htm
"Chi is written as an 'X' and Rho is written as a 'P', but they are the first two letters of the Greek word Christ 'savior'. 'XP' is sometimes used to stand for Christ. Sometimes X is used alone. This is the case in the Chi (X) abbreviation for Christ in Xmas. Thus, Xmas is not directly a way of secularizing the holiday, but since 'X' is not Chi in English, we read the word as X-mas and see no connection with Christ."

I'm teaching you something here but you're too much of a self-righteous dumbass to see it. Don't get your panties in a twist princesa, just do some research for yourself before you shine your holiness on the heathens k ok deep breaths. slowwly and enjoy the music.

Then I suggest you take this up with Santa? Perhaps he can put it simpler for you to understand...maybe let the elves do an illustration of how the 'X' originated, but as for me I don't like repeating myself.

Don't be bitter Stewart75. You're begining to embarass yourself in public shush now and listen to the music. btw I grew up with strong Catholics grandparents. I'm sure you're alone in your self-righteous trolling thoughts.

In Trinidad we have parang music from the Spanish descendants.

I was here:

"O Tannenbaum" is a song of German origin although no one really knows who wrote the melody. The first recording of lyrics to the tune reach back to 1550 although the best known version of the song is credited to Leipzig composer Ernst Anschutz in 1824. A "tannenbaum" is a fir tree (German: die tanne), and, of course, the song has been translated into English with the title "O Christmas Tree". It has been said the song was brought to England during the Victorian period by Prince Albert. Nat sings it here in German.
