Home Alone (Page 3) davidk14: . They didn't charge her. And you can be sure that they went to her residence and tossed it...if there was a joint, a seed, unhealthy living conditions....anything....they would have filed and let the courts figure it out. . davidk14: . Oh yeah. She screwwwwwwedddddd. Every number she has upon a police intervention, the Child Services is flagged. Traffic stop...no problem...cop also knows.... then no seatbelt for a child...um...hello..." . Wild__: @ David, It varies from state to state. In California CPS is VERY lenient and will give parents ample chances to get their act together. My best friend is going through the adoption process of his niece in law. In that case CPS was WAY to slow in removing a child from a household rife with drugs, alcohol, and repeated instances of domestic violence. davidk14: . Just in the "system"...... the state governments are overwhelmed financially and severely under manned to properly address child health issue, in their OWN system. Then to have the public realm to deal with and millions more to protect once identified....huge issues. . I was here: I can't comment on the Minnesota system...again, I imagine it would depend on the county one resides in. I have never known of anyone who is in the system to give any opinion on our system. I was here: I will vouch for you OCD. I goggled your post when you posted it (found the link) and later returned to the same link. They indeed updated it. The article was as you posted it, when you posted it. lavendar_star: There is far worse cases then that, in the UK one mother left her 4 kids home alone n jetted off to Spain to be with her boyfriend not that it makes a difference, so it could be worse n people need to realise how expensive child care is. However maybe she made the wrong judgement call with her son who should of been older enough to know not to leave toddlers by themselves, if she didn't have social services on her back that boy deserves a slap or two. I was here: Interesting how Rabbit just came into the thread to hunt you down OCD... I sometimes ponder if he has any thoughts on any topics posted or if he is just here to troll. Ohhhhh wait. That is a dumb question I was here: Lavendar, I agree. Child care is expensive. However it is something that a potential parent needs to take into consideration "before" having children. Children aren't cheap to raise and they get more expensive everyday. In saying that though, I do believe that this mother just made a poor judgement call. She did have daycare (why she couldn't take them before her son went to school may never be known to us) It was obviously investigated though and there were no charges against her. I was here: I'm pretty sure they did considering it made the media (they pretty much "had" to) If only all children were this lucky. I get sick just thinking about all the ones that never get any attention and just fall to the wayside. Ones were there is "real" neglect. OCD_OCD: Sadly those are oftentimes the ones who end up dead or seriously injured before their circumstances are ever known. I was here: As far as I am concerned you are. I know how to use "google". I Google anything I wish to see the source of. OCD_OCD: whew. it's going to be tough if I have to post disclaimers before each comment I make. RAAAAAAA! Lucid__: I was very quick to judge earlier...yes childcare is expensive and the waiting lists are HUGE here in Australia. I was very fortunate that I always had a good paying job when my boys were little. I doubt if the woman would make the same mistake again...or the older brother for that matter. I was here: I think it is very easy to judge someone in the "heat" of the moment. I'm certainly not innocent of that myself. (Edited by I was here) OCD_OCD: maybe this wake-up call is a blessing after all. They got away with bad judgment this time, and hopefully, they will make better decisions in the future know what is potentially at stake. lavendar_star: Oh we've had some awful cases in the UK . The two most memorable and that hit the media here big time was Victoria Climbie ( a little girl- 9 I think, who was abused n then died by being tortured) which produce a government independent review panel and lead to sweeping changes. Then about several years later within the same part of London n the same social service department, baby P ( a baby boy 3 yrs, who was yet again abused n had dozen of injuries and also died) both children had social workers who missed things as well as doctors n police. heart breaking, So yes the woman is defo lucky nothing happened to those wee children very luckily, but there is far worse parents out there, to horrible to think about but reality none the less. | Off Topic Chat Room Similar Conversations |
