Not all games are played with offside.
Remember there are 11 plays on a team, they're all arranged in a certain way with a task, you have one the goalie (0) then in front of him the defenders (1), midfielders (2), attackers (3) (Generally).

0...1...2...3.|..3...2...1...0

Offside happens when the member of the team receives the ball while his other team mate is in front of the defenders. He'll be in an offside position if he remains but onside if a defender remains behind. It's a really cool rule though. There's also one other type of offside but that'd be for a specific situation

Lavendar, just remember the purpose of having an offside rule: So that a player wouldn't stand next to the goalie during the game and wait for a player to pass it.
