Orchestra vs. Solo Musicians

Metaverseguy
Metaverseguy: Beethoven and Haydn developed a couple orchestral pieces in Deutschland in the 1870's. Looking through some of the sheet music and arrangement you can see they made different pitches and notes for the varying instruments. If the end result was a harmony then it was a success. If not, then the two professors tried again. Beethoven complained he spent too many nights trying to create the perfect piece.

As a solo musician I really appreciate individual works of art, however, of course symphonies sound better complete. Please list your favorite piece of classical music, or any song at all (preferably in the 19th century).
