struanrobertson02: 1. Yes - Relayer |
This album seems a bit slow paced but after time it takes you on a wonderful trip full of delight. And man, the first track Gates Of Delirium is amazingly heaveny and what gets you into the mood. I think it helps build up the feel if you look at the album cover while listening. Anyway so At the start I thought ehh I'm not that big on this but it's cool then soon, man, it IS my favourite album.

2. King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King |
All the tracks on this get a 4-5 star rating for me, which is really rare for me. Not to be one of those people, but It just feels spiritual & too good for this Earth, it just does. I absolutely love the beginning and ending as they are epic, but I also absolutely love the between the first and last track it has great atmopshere, emotion & instrumentals

3. Tool - Lateralus |
As a huge tool fan, I am proud to say that I've listened to all their albums in close detail, and so I put forward my judgement that this really is their best. When first track, The Grudge comes on you know it's Lateralus. I love that Lateralus/Tool atmosphere on this, now I don't get the whole "Tool not metal thing" but if they aren't metal, then this album is Heavy progressive rock & Heavy Math rock. Great stuff anyway, the title track Lateralus is brilliant.

4. Opeth - Blackwater Park |
Has a similar feel to Lateralus, just more opethy. Start to finish you meat brutal and beauty, with Death Metal to Acoustic, Progressive & Ambient. So it's a very versatile album, which is why I love Opeth, their frontman Mikael Akerfeldt is a genius. It's starts off really greatly, although looking at the album and the name, you'd think it be a concept album but I think it's not.

5. Yes - Close To The Edge |
Two words, Strange and Magic. This is the heart of prog music for me. Yes show their best on this album with staggering virtuosity, Engineering-Nightmare technicality, tons of experimentally & all to still equal a great musical product. And the title track Close To The Edge is probably my favourite song of all time right now. Siberian Khatru & And You And I are great too, my only problem is the lack of atmosphere because I love atmospheric things but meh. Anyway ithas that funky Yes groove which I love.

6. Nas - Illmatic |
The first album I've ever throughly enjoyed and the one that got me into Rap. The production quality on this album is terrific and every single track on it gets a 3 to 4 star rating on my part.
It's lyrics are fab and very memorable. Memory Lane is my favourite, the song reminds me of ice cream vans & blue toothpaste, idk why.

7. King Crimson - Red |
Alot like court, it has outstanding atmosphere, emotion & instrumentals. Begnning and end rocks, with a great feel in the middle. Red, although it has weaker tracks I'd say it haa Crimson's best track, Starless fills that gap coming in at 12 minutes long and full of emotion, it'll take you on a drift across a crimson red sea. I've never seen sich a signature feel on a song before.

8. Genesis - Selling England By The Pound |
I'm not as big on Genesis as much as other prog bands but they definitely make my top 10 list.
