Iggy vs Azealia ASAP Minty: I dont know what to think of Azealia Banks' argument against Iggy Azalea. I do believe Iggy stole her name (the dog + street thing never sounds plausible), and I think part of the reason they dont get along is that Iggy blew up with her 1st real song while Azealia Banks has been putting out solid hits for a few years without any real buzz. I think the issue of race is apparent and kudos to Banks for voicing her opinion and bringing awareness to the issue, but is she focusing too much on the color of Iggy's skin? InsertScreenNameHere: I think I know a decent amount about music (as you know from discussions with me). And Id never heard of Azealia Banks until hearing about her issues with Iggy. I think shes trying to make a name for herself by making this a thing, and its working. struanrobertson02: Azealia has never wrote any of her lyrics..... So please Correct me if I'm wrong. But Nicki Minaj is greater. Also I've seen some okay songs from Nicki, not from Iggy. But to break it down...both are trash struanrobertson02: Ehh, I said it wrong. What I was trying to say. Iggy and Azealia don't write their own stuff. ASAP Minty: thats a good point but the focus here is on the individuals as a whole. Iggy Azalea is supposedly robbing Black Culture of one of the few things they have left that's theirs (according to Banks) which is rap. From what I remember from an interview she did, Banks things Iggy should be considered a fluff piece instead of an actual rapper/hip hop artist. Interestingly, you chose to comment a few days after Erykah Badu (jokingly) called out Iggy Azalea for not being an actual rapper. struanrobertson02: But both I consider aren't actual rappers. They got their attention by catchy songs and being attactive/sexually attractive to listeners. But anyway, In no way has Iggy robbed black culture. | Music Chat Room 31 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
