TofuMacca: OH GOD YES! FINALLY A POST ON THIS FANTASTIC BAND.

The Beatles happen to be my favourite band since I was 14 y/o.And you're right about the music thing.Without them, music wouldn't be the same today.Their music still inpsires musicians from this generation and many to come.

It was something about their music in the sixties, since we all know that the 60's weren't perfect.Stuff like the civil rights movement and vietnam war effected people around the globe, and with their music being broughten into America in 1964 when they performed for Ed Sullivan,it brought hope to millions and is doing so still today.

Alot of people grew up on this band, even children. But I wasn't one of them, ahahaa. My parents never listened to any of that kind of music, but I happened to be fascinated with it.I'd hate to know what the world would've been like without the band.Even people, cause we all know that their music shaped people and the music industry forever.

Long live The Beatles.

Kaelis4u: I was all of 3 months old when the Beatles graced the stage for the Ed Sullivan Show. I was fortunate enough to have 3 older sisters who over the next 10 years made me aware of the music of the world. They ment so much to an entire generation and moulded the way music would be presented for decades to come.

john1576: One thing I hope they will sort out soon is the Legal side of the Beatles music so you young folks can download the music as and when you want to, and in what style and format you want it. Due to haggling over Royalties and Copyright you still cannot do that. Which is getting in the way of you guys having a good time with you MP3 collections.

TofuMacca: Yeah but also all these other things are coming out as well.
Beatles Rockband,Remasters,Movies and telly commercials featuring their songs.
Like, all of this is bound to attract some sort of attention by the younger audience, especially Rockband since that's the big thing nowadays.
But i understand what your getting at.With all of that legal crap,we can't download any of the songs.Hopefully it becomes available soon.

ceerose28: Alright, I expect some flack for this.

The Beatles are overrated. Don't get me wrong, they changed music and they were pretty great musicians but seriously their hype needs to be scaled back a little. Look at ELO, very similar to the Beatles. they were around the same time, but they aren't the Beatles there for they were looked over.

IamEggman: Sorry getting your timeline a bit mixed up there. ELO were inspired by the Beatles. They copied their sound. And copied it too slavishly to be taken seriously. In fact Lennon said that if the Beatles hadnt broken up whe they did, they would have sounded like ELO. Meaning that over produced sound.

Dude..The Monkees didn't come around till 1966.By then The Beatles were a world wide hit with Beatlemania.
So guess again...The Monkees ripped off The Beatles.

ceerose28: The Beatles are good, great even. If they didn't have their super fanatic sort of scary obsessed fan base, they would just be a great band and not these messiahs of music that people make them out to be. I'm not saying that all Beatles fans are super crazy scary obsessed either.

Avalon: i believe John Williams (of Star Wars et al) said it best and it's not a direct quote but that the music written by Lennon and McCartney was far more complex than it sounds.....he is a huge fan......me I Love the Beatles, I even had an original press of Shout!! my father owned, haha he took it back ...... the monkees you need an enema if you think that, i am sure you said that just to make a foolish statement.

TofuMacca: He's only a douchebag if you have no idea WHY he seemed like one.
Try some research on his life and you'll find out why his attitude towards the government,The Beatles and the rest of society was so harsh.

And being overrated is no problem if the music is good.

kmzu21: I've read books about John Lennon's life. The research was done, and I do know why he was a d-bag. I have no respect for John Lennon as a philosopher, but great respect for him as a businessman.

Stinks_theSockPuppet: When he was young, Lennon wanted to play music, to be like his heroes. He achieved that with the Beatles. He also realized that people really listened to music and the messages in the songs. When he left the Beatles, he knew he could use music to reach people with a message of peace, love and understanding toward others. He did a damn good job of getting that message across too. If he was just in it for the money, he would have done everything to keep the Beatles together. That's where the REAL money was at.

kmzu21: That is one way to look at it. But sometimes when musicians get a taste of fame, their egos grow faster than their bank accounts. Many disband and hoof it alone because they believe they no longer need the band that made them what they are. I think Lennon capitalized on idealistic pseudo-hippie culture and sold the world his pretentious, drug-induced philosophies. Many bought it. A man who disregards his children, particularly Julian, and openly cheats on his wife in the home he made with her is not someone from whom I seek moral or existential guidance. Peace and love were not things he practiced in his own life, yet preached it to others.
